Original idea - I play piano with my chord sequence,
everything else is from BiaB Style: 'Oasis Mellow Groove'

Carl, very pleasing tapestry…I found your changes quite surprising, in a very satisfying way, and the combo of string instruments were so complimentary. Thanks, I enjoyed listening.

Mmmmmmmm....just mmmmm. So lovely. I really like this combo of instrumentation and those touches of dissonance.

Tom - glad you found this track satisfying & pleasing,
it's a departure from my usual guitar mode so thought
I'd have a go at it - thanks a lot for your comments and
for taking a listen!

Beth - funny I had a feeling this might catch your ear as
it's a bit unusual, thought I'd skip the usual guitar and
string pad format. Glad it resonated with you - thanks
a lot for comments and for taking a listen!

Hi Carl!
There were several elements to this that caught my ear - other than the instrument choices - which worked really well together. The first was the syncopated feel that the guitar and piano were creating. The second was the use of the dim (or was it m7b5?) at roughly 0:49 and 2:19 with the escalating feel. I think I heard a X major to x minor chord change in there as well. The third is the combining of long-held-noted cello over the guitar and piano playing with 1/8th or 1/16th notes. I first learned of this several years ago - that it pays for good mix and balance that not all instruments are 'busy' at the same time.
A beautiful piece!

Hi Andrew - glad my track caught your ear, very pleased that the
various elements worked for you (incl m7b5 chords which I love).
The major/minor chords were largely to do with how BiaB interpreted
my chosen chord sequence!
I'm veering increasingly towards 'less is more'!
Appreciate your generous comments - thanks for taking a listen!

Just like an oasis found after treacherous hours of desert travel, this beauty satisfies all of the sense. Right from seeing you have a new post, to actually getting into it and enjoying the nectar of your creativity, it is very much the oasis a soul seeks. Well played and written, Carl.

Enjoy whatever happens!

We are listening via our monitors and watching birds flying around our feeders on the porch .
And a gentle breeze is swaying the leaves.
All meaning this very nice and mellow production fit in very well.

Your fine performance on keys is well supported by those BiaB session folks.

Well done and we enjoyed it!

Hi J & B - really pleased you enjoyed my mellow track, the
tranquil scene on your porch sounds lovely, glad it fitted in
with the mood & atmosphere!
Not everybody has monitors on the porch - lucky you!

Really interesting piece. When I first heard the cello I thought it was a synth, but I listened again and it's clearly not. Is 'Oasis Mellow Groove' a recent BiaB style? I've not come across it before, plus I heard erhu in your mix. The only thing I wasn't keen on is the effect on the guitar as it opens as I've heard that effect so many time on YT and other posts for a few years now, but once other instruments come in it's not noticeable.

Carl, you outdid yourself on this one. Great chord progression, loved those m7b5 chords. Your choice of instruments fits the mood you set perfectly. Everything is mixed extremely well.

Loved it.

Hi Chay - I simply stumbled over this style during one of my regular
trawling sessions through my current 8000 or so styles, I really can't
tell you whether it's a recent BiaB style, sorry!
I often begin from the styles menu item 'Acoustic Guitar Ballad'
which gives me a good starting point - then build a track from there!
The slight 'chorus' effect on the ac guitar at the beginning was how
BiaB spat it out - no effect was added by me so I just used it as was!
Glad you found the track interesting - thanks for comments and for
listening!
Cheers, Carl

Mario - glad this worked for you, having picked this style I put
the chord sequence together on the piano and added the
R/Ts as I found what sounded ok to my ears - took about
6 hours Tues 4 days ago, as I got up next morning ready
to post the link here I re-checked my mix on my little Bose
Companion 20 speakers (and sometimes check on Genelecs) -
found the cello was too loud and did a very quick re-mix
before posting, original mix was on headphones.
Glad you approved of the final mix - thanks a lot for your
thumbs up!!
