re soundcloud playing ones songs….need help.
situation.
someone i know wanted to listen to my songs the other day…
but sc wanted a account set up.
maybe i'm an idiot but i thought anyone could play ones songs without account set up ??
so i'm confused.
otoh my wifes pc a set up screen appears again.
same with chromebook.
screen comes up continue with facebook or google or apple etc.
whats going on ??
ps i found out if one X's out of sc screen then can play songs.
what gives

OM,
Someone at SC needs to wake up and understand why a lot of us have said goodbye to them! It's because of these frustrating signup requests that the casual listener has no desire to partake of. Even if there are work arounds it's still confusing to a lot of folks who just want to spend a few minutes there to listen to a friends song. I was with them for many years, but it just got to be too frustrating trying to explain this to so many people wanting to listen. I finally said enough and moved everything over to Bandcamp. On Bandcamp you can go into settings and choose how many times an interested party can listen to your song without having to purchase it. I set mine at 10 listens free. Let's face it, I seriously doubt that anyone has listened to any of my tunes that many times. I realize though that I've lost the SC "radio" listens.
OM I hope you get a satisfactory solution for your situation!

thanks for the advice.
i will look at bandcamp.
what frustrates me is there are so many huge talents like yourself here that the worlds music consumers never hear.
its also concerning that lots of such consumers never visit music sites we are all on because of their busy lives
eg..family/jobs or just human ennui.
thus the ones that do venture out on the net to discover new songs...should be encouraged by makeing it easy as possible to access a persons songs.
eg ive lost count of the many many people that didnt know of my own crazy song efforts...lol.
as ive said many times on here the music biz is nuts.
i'm glad i just do songs for oodles of fun. and just hope other people like them.

heres something weird i found out today.
someone with an iphone wanted to play my songs...so i gave them the link to scloud.
they entered the link data and nothing came up...so i asked them to also include a specific song name also...same deal....
yet all works on a tablet and my wifes cel phone (motorola) here.
dont ya love tech ??...lol

I've never had an issue with SC links working. Some folks tell me they can't open my BOX.COM links on occasion.
Regarding SC.... One of my publishers has notified all his writers that using SC to send him demos will result in that song being rejected immediately. Seems they have been allowing AI to train from their catalog. He's persnickety about AI.

I had a friend send me a Soundcloud link to a song he wanted to learn for our group. I went to the site and could not listen to it without creating an account. Not going to go there so I just went to YouTube to find the song and listened to it there. No problem.
I will create an account when I am ready to do so.
End of story. It probably pops up with a login or create account pop up.... so just click on the X in the upper right corner and it goes away and lets you hear the music. It might play a 30 second commercial first but there's a way around that too. Close the page and click on the link again. click the X and you're ready to listen. Kind of a pain to have to work around that junk but until they wise up, if you really want to hear the song, those are your best options currently.

A good alternative to SC that doesn’t require people to jump through hoops to play your song is ReverbNation.
I still have an SC account so I can easily play the songs posted on the Showcase because that’s what most people here use, but for my own audio only uploads I use ReverbNation.

I guess I'm the oddball here as I have no problem with an account for Soundcloud.
However I am weird in that if I use something a lot I pay for it including Soundcloud, cCleaner, and Anit-Malwarebytes. YMMV
Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

Maybe I just wasn't educated enough in the use of the platform. IMO they are actually just trying to force feed their mobile app on people ...an app I never found that functional for my taste!
