HELP! I can’t “Auto-convert individual midi track to audio track” in RealBand. I usually use Native Instruments on most tracks. When I went to Native Access I noticed there were recommended updates so, foolishly, I clicked ‘update all’. The trouble was all the NI programs updated to Kontakt 8 specs and I was using Kontak 7 so I kept getting error messages saying my version of Kontakt was too old. The Native Instruments website ( https://community.native-instruments.com/discussion/47286/session-guitarist-updates-and-compatibility-with-kontakt-7-6) says “please note that you do not require the full version of Kontakt 8 for NI libraries, the free version available to anyone is enough.” So, I downloaded the free Kontakt 8 Player. All seemed OK until I tried to “Auto-convert individual midi track to audio track”. An error message pops up: “An exception error has occurred. You can continue to use the program but should likely save your work and reboot program.” Funnily enough, I can “Auto-convert individual midi track to WAV file” and then import the wav file but this is a laborious workaround if I have lots of instruments. Any assistance or advice would be appreciated. Mike [/b]PS: On further use I have discovered it is not just Kontakt instruments that won't convert a midi track to audio. It's all of my synths: BBC Orchestra, Sforzando etc - everything except Coyote.[b]

Hello Mike,
Sorry to hear you are experiencing this error. We would like to suggest trying to reset RealBand to Factory Settings.
Note: You will have to reconfigure your MIDI and Audio settings and your pathways to point to the correct directories once this is done.
Please go to Options, and press Reset to Default Settings. If this does not work, please close RealBand, go to your RealBand folder (usually C:\RealBand, but if you installed to another drive may be E or D as an example), and delete the following two files
realband.ini
RB.CFG
Note: File extensions may be hidden, so look for a configuration file with the same name or a paper icon with a gear over it; if you're using 64-bit, the files will say 64 in them.
Next, please right click on your RealBand shortcut and select Properties | Compatibility | check "Run program as administrator" and click apply. Then just double click on your RealBand to launch it.

Thanks Nicholas. When I Reset to Default Settings as you suggested, the "Auto-convert individual midi track to audio track" worked fine with Kontakt and other instruments.
BUT when I came back to the program later, I had the same problem: the instruments play fine but I can't convert Kontakt "Session Guitarist" midi tracks to audio tracks or WAV files. At this stage non-Kontakt instruments seem to work ok.
I also deleted realband.ini and RB.CFG as suggested and ticked the 'Run program as administrator' box but to no avail.
Any other suggestions?

I will also contact Native Instruments but if PG users have any suggestions I'd also be interested to hear them.

Not sure if it helps, but when I have this issue, I route the Kontact Output (audio) back in to RB and record it on a new blank track.
I know it doesn't solve your issue, just a workaround I have used once in a while when a synth isn't cooperating.
Or SOLO that track and record it back ..
Keeps progress going, though not optimal.
FWIW, deleting those two files is pretty much resetting to factory settings.

Kontact has a settings area.
Depending on which version it's different.
Usually in the Gear icon somewhere .. Audio Out; make sure that is set to your RB selected input (driver).
On settings if I set Kontact to outs 5/6 I can record it on the same, but your setup will be different than mine most likely.
Like I said, may be simpler to Solo it and record the whole mix to a track, again depending on setup ..
I'm bummed Kontact Auto-Convert is not working.
Kontact has always been a PITA in RB

I eventually uninstalled all my Session Guitarists, and reinstalled earlier versions to work with Kontakt 7, which I also uninstalled and reinstalled. Hours later, everything seems to be working ok.
I still don't understand why the tracks created with updated Session Guitarists, in the current version of Kontakt 8 Player, could not be converted to audio, when every other synth, including other NI instruments, could. But it is what it is.
