Original tune - I play: Charango, baritone ronroco, nylon guitar, mandolin
The remaining backing is from BB Style: 'Lima Hayno Dance' with my chords,

Love it, Carl. Excellent playing as always, and I love the Latin groove. The percussion is especially good for this one.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Carl,
A lovely song! Very nice SA-melody and good choice of the instruments.
And impressing you played the most important instruments yourself!

Hi Hans - glad my latin tune sounded ok in your ears, in my small instrument collection I have kept a few Andean instruments for many years.
Fell in love with 10-stringed S. American instruments years ago after hearing Gustavo Santaolalla's beautiful album 'Ronroco' - I play them
from time to time as they make such a great sound and are fun to play. Suddenly these simple chords popped into my head 4 days ago
and I felt they needed something over the top, thanks a lot for your very nice comments & for taking a listen!

Best regards, Carl

"Lima Dance" fits, my first thought was that it was a South American style.
Well played, and I'm glad there's no pan flute involved grin

BDT - thanks for taking a listen, was looking for a possible pan flute
but couldn't find a suitable one, just as well as it would have put you
off listening.
Thanks for your comments,

Hi Carl!
Besides all the good instrumentation choices, I love this for the underlying chord progression. Those major-to-minor chord changes, plus borrowed chords provide surprises that give me joy every time.
Well done.

Carl,
Really nice instrumental. Interesting opening at 1:00. Neat modern chord progression over traditional style and of course masterful playing. Kept me engaged till the end. Thank you for sharing.

Totally adore the charango in this instrumental. About 3 months ago I was researching the charango and it's unusual tuning. It inspired experimentation with 4ths & 5ths, which then led to perfect 5ths and I now have a couple of new instrumentals which would never have come about had it not been for that. One of them requires a female singer for a vocal version, so they won't be posted for a few weeks.

Misha - interesting that you should mention the chord progression,
the Andean vibe has been in the back of my mind for years and these
chords just flew into my head last Fri. Luckily I have a few of the
relevant instruments in my small collection so I was able to put
something together over the top - really glad you enjoyed,
thanks a lot Misha!

Chay - very pleased you enjoyed this charango based tune,
so you've got smitten by the Andean sound & instruments!
Great - which 2 instruments did you end up with I wonder??
Glad you got the Andean bug - send me a PM down the
line on how you get on with them, looking forward to
some charango tunes from you here!!

Cheers, Carl

Carl, love the groove on this one. Outstanding chops on your instruments. An interesting but excellent chord progression. Super mix.
Loved it.

Mario - a bit of a departure from my usual style/s,
the chords came quite spontaneously out of the
blue - the rest became possible when I found a
suitable style in BB, really glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks Mario,

I've always been interested in world music and it was in the 1970s I first got into South American music, though mostly Argentinean and Peruvian. A friend of mine was also a fan and bought a Los Incas LP on which were 2 gorgeous charango solo instrumentals. I still have copies of those on tape so I'm planning to get a device so I can transfer them to PC, but to my surprise no-one's ever posted them on YouTube.

Re "which 2 instruments" above, I wrote "instrumentals". Alas, the only charango I have as a BiaB Style is a rhythm section instrument only. As far as I'm aware there are no charango solos in BiaB. This from my notes when I posted "Venus Rides" a few months ago: Charango: Andes Huayno Quartet w A-B Bass ~ Ramon Stagnaro. I think I've only used the charango on one other instrumental yet to be posted, but this is the YouTube link to "Venus Rides":

Thanks Chay - sorry my mistake, I missed your 's' on the end of instrumentals and read it as 'bought 2 charangos'!
So many clever forum people on their computers these days (incl you) - I'm inclined to keep it real & natural with
my own playing where possible, but where I don't have enough skills or instruments to hand then I rely on our amazing BB!
Very pleased you liked my "Lima Dance" - thanks Chay,

Best, Carl
