Here is my biggest hit Soi vienosti murheeni soitto, with 2.390 plays. Thank you for listening and here for useful hints and critics! Note: Translation of the lyrics below. Frans Oskar Merikanto (in pic; until 1882 Mattsson; 5. 8.1868 – 17.2.1924) was a Finnish composer, musician, conductor and teacher. Unlike his contemporary Jean Sibelius, he gravitated towards a simpler and more folk-like expression. He became one of the most beloved Finnish composers among the people, which was also influenced by Merikanto's linguistic background. Merikanto is especially known for his solo songs, such as this: Soi vienosti murheeni soitto, op. 36, no. 3. Text by Heikki Ansa (author Edvard Erland Lück 1876–1936). Composed and published in 1899. In my version I sing and play mandolins (octave and Napolitan), tenor banjo and guitars. I produced this at home with Band in a Box and Reaper. ****** Song Summary ************* Title: Soi vienosti murheeni soitto Key=Em , Tempo 80, Length (m:s)=2:54 Style is _SHANDON.STY (Shandon Serene Celtic Air) Style is _DRVBRIT.STY (Driving British Rock Guitars) MelodyCustom Synth is 079 - Tin Whistle, Low, Celtic Folk [SN0704] RealTracks used: RealTracks in style: ~2474:Bass, Acoustic, Held Ev 085 RealTracks in style: 2365:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm CelticAir Ev 085 RealTracks in style: 2457:Strings, Rhythm CelticAir Ev 085 RealDrums in style:BodhranCelticAir^2-a,b:Sticks, Simple RealTracks in style: 1827:Bass, Electric, PopModernGrooveA-B Ev16 075 RealDrums in style:RockBritDrivingEv16^1-a:Snare, HiHat , b:Snare, Ride + B3 Organ + Pedalsteel Guitar Plays Mildly My Sorrow's Music When roared the beaches surfs, the zither mildly rang, when howled the autumn's storms, it brought spring into my chest. The world took away the joy in my play and took away the peace in my chest. And if still the zither echoes, then joy it doesn't reverberate. Plays mildly my sorrow's music, plays gently my longing's playing! Yet more tenderly jingle to those, that brought sorrow into my chest.

Hi, Arri.
The intro with the mandolins is cool.
Nicely done!
The only useful comment I can give is the the ending fade out is a bit too quick.

Hi Beth,
Beautiful song. It makes you reminisce about other times... Besides the banjo and guitars, did you also add drums and the solo guitar?
And about the amount of plays: wonderfull Beth! They can't ignore you anymore (whoever did that).

Thanks, Hans. I added all the guitars, mandolins and banjon, not the drums. By the way my real first name is Esa, nick name Brno and producer name Arri.

The amount of plays matters to me. Neither of getting rich nor famous, but to prove that I've managed to produce music, that people regard worth of listening. That encourages me to carry on with my pass time as an retired boomer.

Brilliant song, full of atmosphere. Superb instrumentation and playing!

Arri,
Beautiful song! It's certainly a song full of folk lyricism. The lyrics are in Finnish? It's no wonder it's the most played song. The RealTracks selection also fits the song perfectly. And your vocals are spot on. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.

Thank you. The lyrics are in Finnish by a Finnish poet, artist name Heikki Ansa (alias Edvard Erland Lück 1876–1936).

Nice performances by you vocally and your instruments. Also you selected some excellent BiaB session guys to add to your tracks. And you wrapped them in a mix that sounds excellent on our monitors.
We enjoyed reading the backstory too.
Enjoyed it and well done!
