Hi All,

Here’s something new & folky from us. This is called Night Lines.

I was somewhere in Virginia
With the Catskills on my mind
All the mountains are connected
Like the days we left behind

I was walking in Savannah
Where the river meets the pines
You were painting by the window
Sketching out the crossing lines

I’ll be with you in the morning sometime
When the birds all wake too soon
But tonight I asked the stars to draw a line
And let the night lean into you

I was drifting down to Asheville
With the blue hills bending low
You were dancing through my memory
Like a firefly in early snow

Now I'm waking up in Berkley
With the jasmine in the air
Every coast just keeps on curving
But I still find you everywhere

I’ll be with you in the morning sometime
When the birds all wake too soon
But tonight I asked the stars to draw a line
And let the night lean into you

I’ll be with you in the morning sometime
When the birds all wake too soon
But tonight I asked the stars to draw a line
And let the night lean into you

Excellent song...loved the lyric, the gentle, folksy flow, the guitar. I found the BGV's a little too "thick"...it seemed like the sense of the song was more gentle, and maybe lightening up on the BGV? Just my sense of it. Great work, however! Enjoyed it!

That is a good song. I like the finger picked guitar. And of course your ability to paint a picture with words remains untarnished.

This one felt personal, Bob. Aside from being a beautiful song, it has so many thoughts within it that tug at my heart. I lived in Virginia for a time, later moved on to Asheville (which I adored), been to Berkley too. Never made it to Savannah, though. You are a stellar poet.

Bob, you and Joliz produced another winner!
Bob, that was some excellent finger picking!
As usual a fantastic story set to music.
Super vocals.
Great mix also.

Bob, ooooh...

That opening is killer. Your fingerstyle guitar is SO tasteful, and the tone is so THERE. Your lyrical journey is very intimate, per usual, and the delivery is spot on. Love Joliz's harmony lines, and how she expertly shifts the timing rather than shadowing you exactly. Adds a delicious uncertainty to the music that align with the narrative perfectly. Super vocals by you, too. The vocal FX on this one sound a bit different but that may be my imagination. I'm hearing more high frequency and less compression (or maybe less Vocal Rider). Like I said, my hearing is definitely not what is used to be. Super cool song!

You know I always like your vocals, Bob, and when I see Joliz is also in there, it seems we're in for a special treat with the new dimension she brings to your songs. I imagine walking with you on the streets of The Village and you speak in rhyme of some of the cool times you've had. This song lets me know that with you NY is also in Virginia. Love it!

Enjoy whatever happens!

Nice travel song featuring the eastern stretch of the US. Did you mean Berkeley Springs in WVA? . I like the final line a lot, very Bob Deanish.

Great and one of our fav towns. We have nearby family.

You’ve painted another vivid canvas and this line stayed with us:
“But I still find you everywhere”

Your Gibson sounds outstanding in tone and chops.and the acoustic bass was an excellent choice.

The write, vocals and mix all add up to another great addition to your amazing catalog.

Enjoyed it!

As soon as I saw you had a new song up I couldn't wait to hear it! The problem is that I'm running out of positive things to say! This new song is once again pure poetry, the single BiaB track needs nothing extra, and I just love listening to Bob & Joliz vocals. … How many songs have you written? It must be hundreds by now! Just don't stop! laugh

Hi Bob and Joliz!
On my first two listens, I was drawn to the fingerpicking - loved it when the bass came in. Your picking was so clear and steady - I wish I could play like you do. I felt this was slightly more melodic in your voice for this one, and consequently, when you moved into the chorus, I was looking forward to that each time. Because your words are so important, I've had to read them through several times, and even Google mapped them to see where the journey went - Berkley was particularly a puzzle - I don't think it means CA does it?
A wonderful addition to your catalogue!

Ron,

Thanks for the extremely kind words. We both appreciate that. You have great ears - less compression on this one. I wanted it to have a bit of an edge, with an almost live feel.
