The Nature Of Desire

When the light of love shines bright within your eyes,
all around you disappears but the fire in me.
So soon I will surrender all my heart inside that sight.
We will spend the night with love in throws of ecstacy.

My heart and soul surrenders to the magic you posess
then the nature of desire does the rest.

When you smile at me, I melt inside your eyes.
You will notice how I yearn for your tender touch.
You know you are the reason for my breathless double-take.
All the passion you portray is way too much.

Did you ever notice your effect on me?
Nature points the way to our destiny.

Ever since that first time we embraced desire's drive
we were both forever changed. We came alive.

Then I quickly surrendered to the magic you posess, and
let the nature of desire do its best.

Marty, thought this was great! I esp liked the “kitchen sink” approach to the RTs you used—I’d never think of that combination of styles and rhythms! Loved the lyric idea, your vocal was typically cool, and overall enjoyed my Sunday morning listen!

Marty,

Love this!

Some very cool elements of pop, jazz & rock. An excellent composition, completely supported by an outstanding blend of tracks. Plus another GREAT vocal.

You write some of the most interesting music around and I enjoy it all.

Ooo...Soundcloud or Youtube? Youtube or Soundcloud? I started on Youtube but the video was distracting me, so I had to close my eyes to really listen. The unusual band meshes quite nicely. Was there a special treatment on your vocals? Sometimes, it almost sounded 1920's megaphone-like. Am I imagining that?? If so, it was a cool effect in my head.

When I saw the title, I thought for sure this was going to be a sonnet. Not the case, but a fine piece of work nonetheless. If the vocal were drenched in reverb and the guitar more prominent, it would've sounded a lot like Quicksilver Messenger Service. Really good vocal! Don't know how you put out so many so quickly, but they're all worthy contenders!

Hi Marty. The Latin style used here is really cool. I love your chord movements, and especially into and through the bridge. I thought I heard the marimba - I’ve always loved that.
Great song!

The date must be the 7th - this is the second song I've listened to in the forum today and both are steeped in 7ths.
This one has more bounce and solo/filigree which adds a little bite to the jazzy blues.
Wonderful vocal, cool narrative and terrific mix.
This could just as easily been a smooth jazz thing but I'm glad you kept some bop.

Cheers

One of your best, Marty. The harmonies are lush, your delivery is superb - love the slightly staccato style, and the accents that that brings. The lyrics are perfectly suited to my taste. That guitar solo suits the song to a tee. Loved it all - once more smile Bravo ... hats off to you.

Thanks, Tom. Jazz, Bossa, Reggae and SurfRock. It was the SurfRock that brought it all together. smile

Thanks, Bob. Glad you like the soup of styles.

Thanks, Beth. Yeah, I agree. Seeing overrides hearing in the hierarchy of senses, AND I think SC has better sound quality. Of course that might be because of less distraction. Right? Some of those RTs were in the original style, and I liked how they mixed, so I brought in the marimba for the choruses. Yeah, I think that occasional megaphone effect is because of a setting in Nectar4 that I don't know how to use. Yet.

Haha. Thanks, Bob. More of a limerick, I'm afraid. Man, I remember when QSM came on the scene. Good stuff. You may notice that this one was published 6 months ago, and it was written about a year ago. Right now I have 21 more to post.

Marty, you were always an excellent singer, bass player, and arranger and now you are a master at taking various instruments from different genres and mixing them to perfection. I am so jealous!
Loved it.

Nicely crafted, Marty! That's a cool fusion of styles, and I REALLY like your vocals. Your use of the BiaB soloist fooled me, as I went back looking for who got the human credit for those nice accents. So AAA+ for that. Rockin' bass, too! (Human? YES! Had to check again.)

Of course, "prime directive" will always make me think of Star Trek, so...hope your tune lives long and prospers!

Marty,

What a great song! I, too, like to experiment with mixing styles that don't seem to be a good match - until you play them! And these work perfectly together. Probably my favorite by you. Really, really nice!

What a smooth and beautiful love song, Marty! Love the lyrics, cool arrangement and vocals, plus that guitar solo totally hits the spot. Ya just can't have too many positive and beautifully written love songs written from the heart.

Hi, Marty.

Neat mix of RTs, excellent vocal, clever write.

I like it! smile

I believe you meant "throes" of ecstacy, although "throws" is an interesting mental image. wink

Thanks, Andrew. The Bridge, in my mind, is kind of the same song-- yet totally different. Change keys, go from minor to major. Yeah, there are no rules. smile I'm with you on how cool the marimba is as an instrument.

But this was posted on the 12th, Ray --I should've used sus chords. Thanks, Ray. This one would be hard to find the right section for in a record store.

Thanks, James. At first I was confused, then realized you meant musical harmony, not vocal. Much appreciated, my friend.

Thanks, Mario, but I was never a singer --shower, maybe if no one was home, but in a band, no. Use my throat to play bass and my hands to sing. HA! You jealous?!? Ha. Every piece you post I say that about you. Well, wouldn't say jealous, but filled with respect for your abilities.

Thanks, Floyd. Next time I hope to get you dancin' ON your chair. Had the song mostly done, then dropped in a Brent track and, wow, not only the opening fit, but even the fills.

Well, thanks very much, Ron. Yep, that's what I thought of too. I'd watch the original Star Trek with my younger sister. She would have snacks and drinks waiting for us. Their directive was no interferance, but our species has a different code. wink We create.

Hi, Alan. It always means a lot to me that you even listen to my songs, and your comments add so much. Yep, I was thinking of you as these styles got together. It's like Hapkido --there are no rules. Well, one rule that is very rarely broken and that is no swing with even.

Thanks, Chay. Your own love songs are coming along so well with your new singers, and your instrumentals always feels like there is a lot of heart AND soul.
