First.... Check your Realtracks and Realdrum settings and make sure that the preferences point to the correct location for the Audiophile's audio files. The Audiophile installation to a computer's hard drive usually installs the .wma files on the hard drive. This means that files in a computer's harddrive directories of \bb\Realtracks and \bb\Drums will most likely be .wma files. This was needed in the days when computer harddrives were not sufficiently large enough to fit all the audio .wav files. The envelope icons that I have used arrows to point to are used to navigate to the correctly located folders. ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=31463&filename=Realtrack preferences (2025).jpg) With my installation, I have .wma files on my computer's hard drive. I use these during the creation process of writing songs. When I move into the production of my song, I do the following. - Freeze all the tracks of my BIAB arrangement when I have the arrangement sounding the way I like it.
- Plug in my Audiophile USB drive.
- Change the directory location in Realtracks and Realdrums preferences to point to \bb\Realtracks and \bb\Drums on the USB drive.
- Generate the song.
Second.... Check the Export Audio settings. BIAB's audio .wav files are 16 bit, 44.1 kHz (44100 Hz) audio files. By matching the export settings to BIAB's file format, the stage is set for exporting at the best quality. ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=31462&filename=export audio settings (2025).jpg) Continued next post...

Third.... In the Realtrack settings above, you can also find a setting for the output quality of stretching and shrinking the audio files. This is the setting for controlling the quality of Elastique's pitch shifting. For the best results with the BIAB (AUdiophile), this setting should be set to 'High". Fourth.... Under Song Settings, overriding BIAB's default settings so that the program will always choose a non-transposed chord as the first option will also help create a better quality export. ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=31468&filename=avoid transposition (2025).jpg)

A big +1 for these tips. Extremely helpful. Thank you, Noel!
Be aware that some of the settings may cause trouble on a computer not powerful enough, which is why they give you these choices. There is only the one hint, "Reduce on slow machines" but all the options should be evaluated for the computer's ability to implement them. If you hear audio stuttering, that's a clue your settings on quality may be too high (but not the only reason). This thread reinforces the idea that you should buy the best CPU you can afford for your BIAB computer, and secondarily, have adequate fast RAM.
I have all the 'best' settings Noel has described.
In Step #4, I really wish the checkbox were in the Preferences RealTracks dialog, instead of the Song Settings where it must be set for each song. There is a checkbox for Avoid Transpositions in New Songs that appears in Preferences, Overrides. That is global, but it is not entirely clear it is the same setting (I think it is, though). Also while this setting says it improves quality, be aware the tool tips say it may reduce variety in the arrangement. These settings are ever a balance, I suppose.
In Step #3, take note of what Noel did NOT check: under Tempo/Pitch stretching quality, there is a check box for Use +/- RealTracks for generation. The +/- tracks are a way that BIAB used to handle transposing the performance. As I understand it, the Elastique algorithm now in use (which seems to have improved over the years) makes that older +/- method not even needed. Leave this box unchecked in the audiophile version.
There's an additional gem of knowledge in there that a PG Music staffer revealed in a thread a year or so ago: when you prepare a song on a 'regular' (non-audiophile) version and Freeze the tracks, and take that frozen song to an audiophile version, BIAB will load the audiophile sound files (WAV if present, otherwise FLAC). I had always thought the actual audiophile tracks were saved IN the song (because the frozen song file was so much bigger), but instead the instructions to load the best available sounds are saved in the song. Hence the trick of changing the location of the sounds you want, as Noel described.

If you are interested in this topic, there is more you can read. Look at the first (sticky) post in this Tips and Tricks Forum. https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=378939#Post378939Noel and others have contributed good tips. I have not updated some of the info for BIAB 2025 because I still have a few questions about the FLAC files, but everything else is accurate and complete to my knowledge (which means, as far as an end user not working for the company can know these things).
