First, forgive me for posting another item so quickly after my "feet" song....but as I was working with Suno on my last project, I got to thinking, what if i just asked Suno to cover an older song that I always felt needed "more". This song was created in around 2011 entirely with BIAB (and midi)...I've lost the original files, so I can't state the style/RT's, etc.

What I did was submitted it to Suno, then imported the version that I liked into a SEQ file along with my original. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could easily chop each one up and have 1 song comprised of bits of each--the old and the new. That's what I'm submitting to the forum for comments. I think the "combo" turned out pretty OK!

The song is a reflection on Paul's letter to the Corinthians--to "knock it off!"--imagined as a bluesy-gospel song.
Please comment and tell me what you think about the mixture...I put the original slightly off to the left and the new slightly off to the right.
Thanks.

STOP!

You gotta Stop!
All your running 'round;
Stop chasing lies;
Stop feeling good and proud;
Stop choosing sides;
Stop wantin' everything;
Stop your hateful ways;
You gotta Stop!
'Cause the spirit is slipping 'way

My brothers--
I came to preach the good word!

You welcomed me,
You heard the word,
You let the spirit in;
When I left you were fearful and strong;
Now I'm hearing that everything's wrong;
What have you done?
You done let the Spirit slip away!
Stop!

Hi Tom!
This is an intriguing song based on scripture! I think I would like it a lot, but have to admit the switching from one to the other made it harder to concentrate. I think, if the original has a good enough sound, it would be good to hear the original in full then contrast it to the AI interpretation - not to see which is best, but to hear how your original idea develops.
You’ve got some interesting ideas Tom - I like the way your mind works.

Tom, interesting experiment for sure. It IS amazing what AI can do, and it boggles the mind what it will be doing next, and next after that.

But truthfully, if the songs you submitted to the forum were like this one, I wouldn't find them nearly as interesting as, say, "Feet". To my ears, you're just so much more delightfully nuanced on your own, even if your ears are telling you something different.

But hey, what do I know? Soon everyone will be feeding Suno prompts and I'll still be stuck here in the basement, trying to find just the right RealTrack for a pad on the bridge...

Keep on trucking'. I recently, two days ago, was able to come full circle with these tools. I fingerpicked a new song, just an acoustic guitar. Recorded it and then uploaded it into Suno. Then I wrote the lyrics and typed them into Suno. I set Suno to 0%,50%, 25%, then I asked Suno to cover my fingerpicking solo work with the new lyrics. Basically, I took A I out of the picture and only let it mix/master and play my music. I cannot post it here because I didn't use BiaB for this one, only on YouTube, just a test to see if it would work, and it did a great job.

Hi, Tom.

Interesting to hear the two toggle back and forth.

A bit dizzying, but cool to hear the difference between the two.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Wow that was a crazy experiment. I must say I have thought some of the Suno projects were pretty good. Your live performance was way better than the Suno part.

Tom, an interesting experiment. You did a very good job in splicing the sections together. But I must say I preferred your version over the AI version.

OK, a random thought;
Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

It's a bit surprising because it feels like a break, but overall the result is successful and we enjoy the song.

What was that? It reminded me of playing my old vinyls at the wrong speeds for fun. You have a great song here. The lyrics, the theme, the music...you just need the gospel choir to meet its potential.

Thanks all. Strictly as an experiment, I was interested to see what AI would do, and I appreciate all your feedback. This will help inform any future work with AI tools for me.
