Hi All, Here’s our latest - this is called New York City Is My Air. There’s a payphone on the corner That rings from time to time I’m watching taxis scatter Through the neon and the grime Chelsea with her phantoms And the ghosts that linger there New York City is my air I’ve seen lovers in the doorways I’ve heard prophets on the wire I've watched the lamplights stutter Like a broken gospel choir The Hudson keeps on rolling But it’s not going anywhere New York City is my air Now the winter’s on my shoulder I hear sirens in my sleep There’s a girl who looks like Joni In a bar on Houston Street She sang about forgiveness And it caught me unaware She said New York City is my air There’s a pawnshop on Canal Street An old Martin under glass I thought about the future And I thought about the past Every thought I tried to follow Left a song in the square New York City is my air New York City is my air BIAB Tracks: 1190: Bass, Electric, ModernRnB 1602: Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm 0638: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm 2291: Horn Section, Rhythm Pop 2975: Vocal Oohs-Aahs, Rhythm RealDrums: PopRock16ths Other Notes: Bob Mic: Logitech Blue Yeti Bob Vocals: Logic Pro Bob: Martin D-18 Joliz Mic: Audio Technica AT2020USB+ Joliz Vocals: GarageBand Waves Vocal Rider: All Vocals Pre-Production: Track Editing GarageBand & Logic Pro Izotope Nectar 3 Elements for Vocals Izotope Plasma for Instrument Tracks Processing Final Track Mix & Master: Logic Pro & Izotope Ozone 11 As always - thanks for listening! Loved it.
"There’s a girl who looks like Joni In a bar on Houston Street She sang about forgiveness And it caught me unaware"
Beautiful. Congratulations, Bob and Joliz.

Another great production, with a good intro. The voices blend very well and the brass section is well placed. I think that with Joliz, the vocal harmonies are very successful. Laurent

Hi Bob! I love those horns and how they add to your song. I describe them as giving some melancholy happiness. I like the concept of a place giving one a sense of being. I have sometimes tried to imagine what it would feel like and what I would notice if I come home after being away from my home city for some time. I like how your lyrics can convey a whole story in just a few lines. Well done. Andrew

Bob and Joliz, You produce winner after winner after winner etc! Great vocals, lyrics, mix, and backing band. All I can say is that I loved it.

Bob, I wouldn't have thought horns would fit into your musical oeuvre but they sounded terrific! Great job!

Nice production on this one, Bob, holding off on the bass until the second verse really works well. Horns work well too! Of course the song is top notch too And you and Joliz always sound great together.

Bob, you know I'm a huge fan for a little guy. Love how you tell stories especially when you have Joliz help tell them. What a great opening: There’s a payphone on the corner That rings from time to time
Man, I wanna write like that. Another wonderful song about the Big Apple. You live it in every song. You breathe in the peel, chew up the exerience, then spit out the juiciest slices of goodness, leaving the pits in memory.

Hi Bob and Joliz,
Your production of songs is way more faster than mine. And now, while I'm busy rebuilding my studio, I noticed I forgot to respond on your song before this one. Shame on me! I will try to catch up within some time. But about this song; I thought I have heard it before, also with Joliz. I got aware of that when you sang about "...through the neon and the grime Chelsea with her phantoms..." I think it was about the neon. But whatever; the song is beautiful, the lyrics are great and you both sang it very well! But that is nothing new for you, don't you agree? If you are good, you are good! And that is what you are!

Hi Bob, I hope you don't grow tired of me saying, "great song" because you consistently write and produce them. I love what you did with the horns; they really work. (I'm always hesitant to use them). Joliz is coming through nice and strong too.

Another classic, Bob. Beautiful, hymn-like anthem to a place that we all know. Sometimes it's NYC, sometimes somewhere else. But we all have that place.
Excellent vocals, Bob, and Joliz highlights all the right places with uniquely gorgeous accents.
Super arrangement and mix. That D-18 comes in punchy and tight, and grabs the listener right away. The oohs and horn section are nice touches that we don't hear used very often, or as well as in this tune.

Excellent songwriting! Loved the word pictures, the rhyme scheme, the melody was perfect for what you were doing, and the performance so professional! The one comment i'd have...BIAB's "horn section" is good for background, but it comes off as kind of blocked and computer-y if you try to use it as a solo section. I'd maybe select a solo RT to put on top of that portion. Enjoyed it thoroughly!

Hi, Bob. Excellent storytelling of a place and time, as usual. Every now and then I listen to the BiaB horns and wonder how can I use these? You answered that question.

Definitely one of your best songs, but it's my favourite so far the dual vocals, the 2 voices together perfect the atmosphere of the song. It has a relaxed and soothing feel and is close to a lullaby - or that's the effect it had on sleepy me! Nice to hear the horns in there, too.
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Great songwriting Robert. Such a homely sound, certainly gave me the feeling that NYC was home…..unfortunately never been there.
Good vocals by Jolie and yourself. Kind regards.
