Stay Here Now
https://www.johnwalradt.com/music/songs/stayherenow-collins2022mar.mp3

This is a song about how I spent a year waiting for Lora to come to Phoenix from Portland. At 49, I finally got to be married. When I recorded it with Band in a Box, I wanted a Carpenters feel...it's like the Carpenters meet America. I hired Clay Collins on FiveRR to do vocals. I released it on Broadjam. In one month from February to March, 2021, it raced up the charts and went to #1 Earth for two weeks.

Except for the MIDI string sections, all the instrument tracks are with Band in a Box. I used Studio One 6 to mix and master.

Would you like to spend the hours beside me
I will if you will stay here now
Let the days go into years together
I will if you will stay here now
No, no, no, I cannot take another day
With you a thousand miles away
When you come back let me hear you say
That you will stay here now.

Spending hours on the phone to hear you
It wraps me like a blanket now
A glass of wine, a book, a soft light
If you could be beside me now
No, no, no, I cannot take another day
With you a thousand miles away
When you come back let me hear you say
That you will stay here now.

I’ve been staring out the window
Sunlight sweeps across the floor
I don’t have very much to show you
But together we can find much more
So much more.

If you would spend the hours beside me
I will if you will stay here now
Let the days go into years forever
I will if you will stay here now
No, no, no, I cannot take another day
With you a thousand miles away
When you come back let me hear you say
That you will stay here now.

Welcome, John. CONGRATULATIONS on your Broadjam success with this tune! You definitely nailed the Carpenters/America soft rock sound, and Clay does a fine job on vocals. I particularly like the harmonies and BGV, as they really make the presentation pop.

Scanned your website and so offer a 2nd congratulations to you and your spouse for carving out a retirement in the arts. Takes both talent and dedication to pull that off, so...well done!

Looking forward to future posts. smile

Wow. Big Welcome to the forum, John. Very vool enry piece. You hired some fine singers --love the harmony. I'll admit a lack of Carpenter's knowledge, but this sounds great. Man, I'm so happy for you that she finally will stay there (with you) now. And wow, yeah, I can see this one be number in a lot of places. Glad you're here. Keep 'em coming.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Lovely production for a lovely song! Very Carpetner-like. I agree with DC Ron re the harmonies.

John, Congratulations on getting married.
You nailed the Carpenters vibe. I really liked the backing tracks. You picked a great vocalist for this song. Super mix.
I enjoyed this one very much.

OK, a random thought;

Welcome to the forum!

You nailed that 70's vibe. Nice vocals, and a very pleasant sound. smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Your song is richly textured with an engaging melody. It reminds me much of Silvertwin.

Hi John

That was, like any Carpenters song, a highly polished production. Loved all your vocal arrangements, they were perfect. I can hear why it got to #1.

Great song, kind regards.

HI, Ron. I forgot about this site because, after a few days, I didn't see any response that the Forum had accepted what I posted. Then I looked at my bookmarks and clicked on it out of curiosity and was surprised to see this! Thank you for dropping by my website for a few listens! Since I have very bad physical coordination (I just use a guitar for composing tunes), one of my Broadjam buddies, Art Corey, introduced me to Band in a Box and that opened up making music for me! I'll get some more going. I think I have my homework cut out for me as I'd love to hear what you and some of the others here do as well. Thank you much again! John
