hello,
I've been using PowerTracks since version 8. Last year, in August, there was an update which brought a substantial improvement. Will there be a new PowerTracks version or is it a dead project?
Thank you very much

Development continues, and there should be a new release within the next few months!

Peter. well thats jolly good news. ive suggested , as other good folks have, various ideas in the wishlist. i also hope, not for me , as i dont use many traks, but others often tell me they need more than 48 traks. given people are now starting to use much more powerfull pc's.. eg i7's and i'm sure both amd and intel have plans for even more cores n processing power etc etc i hope the trak count is expanded. i'll be very interested to see what new features are implemented. mebe there will be a beta testers program ?? all the best.

Portugal re resource useage of vst plug ins. and less cpu useage. what plug ins are you useing ?? pg has no control over plug ins developed by third parties. it depends how the original plug in was coded by the orginal developer , as well as its logic and complexity of dsp code. you should contact the developer of the plug in over its cpu useage.

hello manning,
well, you right to a certain point, but the reason i'm saying this is that i've tried the same plugins in the same song, in Reaper and Samplitude 10SE and the result showed a difference of around 20%. If you use a laptop this is an important margin of comfort. Nevertheless this as been my main sequencer / midi editor, and it will continue being so. Now that we the confirmation of a new version being "cooked", and as we all know, each new one is better that the other. Maybe this issue is already being taken care. PowerTracks is undoubtedly the best ratio price/features sequencer available
Thank you

Portugal well as i know reaper extremely well as well as ptw (ive also mucked around with samp) i'm curious. how are you measuring plug in cpu n memory useage in ptw ?? to do a proper analysis it might be a tad difficult. cos differrent songs n plug in settings. otoh if you are running the exact same set up in samp n reap with exact same traks with exact same plug in settings your point has merit of course. if your right, from a technical angle as far as i understand all most hosts do is instantiate the plug in, thus i cant see why the host itself might be adding resource useage. unless the host itself is adding some additional protection or other routines. difficult to say.

manning,
just press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and you'll have Windows task monitor measuring cpu effort, or simply import the same song into the aforementioned DAWS (Reaper and Samplitude SE10) and you'll find out the difference. In my point of view if PowerTracks next version evolves to a reduction of around 20% less, of processing power that will be very good. Implementing VST3 specification would also be great: plugins would consume power only when active.
Thank you

I'm hoping a bit that we'll be able to use more than one key sig in a song.

Portugal i'm very aware of win task monitor.. but unfortunately TM dont tell the whole story. (google for added third party process/task monitor software.) i was just makeing the point different daw software might have different added security features to protect the host daw and firewalling . for example ptw might have added security features and other code to protect it. for example ptw has a recovery feature if i remember. ive never needed to use it. whether that has an impact i dunno. difficult to say as only the developers know the source code.
the basic problem for host daw software developers , and its the achilles heel of plug ins imho is how to protect samp/ptw/reap or any other daw host from problematic third party plug ins . mebe ptw protects itself different to the others. dunno. if it does, this might account for variances.
