Always Midnight, another song from the Drive Lonesome album. I wrote it in 2017. Things have only gotten worse.

https://fredgrittner.bandcamp.com/track/always-midnight

Always Midnight

Hopes past fading
Fears cascading
What are we to do?
A surge of terror
Filled with human error
What’s false now is true

Chorus:
I saw them in darkened corners
Never thought they would see the light
They’re standing tall as we take the fall
The clock says it’s always midnight

Some preach resistance
That takes persistence
It’s all in the follow through
Some pull up the covers
Avoiding blood brothers
Afraid who they’re talking to
Chorus

You’ll get no answer
From this song and dancer
This is not an interview
A song is something
But it’s next to nothing
Compared to this ballyhoo
Chorus

Hi, Fred.

Dark and moody lyrics, suitably evasive. Brent is an excellent choice on the guitar solo.

Sounds great! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Fred, this is dark and moody song that fits into today's world perfectly.
Loved the backing band.
Outstanding vocal and lyrics.
IMHO this is your best to date
Loved it

OK, a random thought;
Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

A dirge-like feel in this song, Fred. Love the lyrics, and the band you hired to keep the dirge dark. What a terrific presentation of terrifying times.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Well-structured song, and an excellent production. Great use of the BIAB components, and solid vocal.
I esp liked the break in the backing after the solo section, since I was hoping for a little change of pace, which you delivered.
Always good to go back in time and bring forward unfinished work, this was real enjoyable (as listening goes!) for me.
PS...you've got some little artifacts there at the end to clean up.

Excellent song and sound all around. Particularly like the chord structure, guitar solo and of course your vocals.

Thanks, Marty. My wife had me speed it up, so it is a moderate dirge....
