Hey all: I guess it’s been a bit . . . again. I really haven’t been writing much . . . at least not much that’s new. This song—“Gravity”—has been in the queue for quite some time. And I have ray cochrane to thank for laying down a really cool bass track. But I struggled for the longest time laying down and mixing a vocal that seemed to work and sit in the mix (I’m actually pretty pleased with the backing tracks themselves . . . that is, until you all tell me otherwise, LOL!!). As for the vocal, I’m not sure this does it, even still. But I offer it up just the same . . . it’s time to let it go. Anyway, give it a listen and let me know what you think. Comments and feedback are always welcome. I hope all of your are doing well. Kindest regards, Deej Here’s the song:GRAVITY Here are the lyrics:Staring at the night sky The stars and all their kin Thinking about the fine lines The space that we’ve been spinning in The force that pulls together You and I and everything And the common ties Of love and gravity I keep asking for forgiveness But it only make things worse No matter how I try to Find the secrets to your universe The laws of love’s attraction Well, they seem to be my curse As I try find the way to you from me But all I see Is this Black hole in front of me And will I be some traveller That’s bound to wander endlessly Down this broken path desperately Seeking some kind of love to last in me That can pull you close and keep you Gravity All these endless orbits Elliptic in my head Swing us round in circles Can’t we just go straight instead All of my confessions By now they should have led All along the way to you from me And here's the band:Drums: RockHardLA^4 Bass: Ray Cochrane Guitar: RT 4013 Guitar: RT 1764 Guitar: RT 3736 Guitar: RT 3727 Guitar: RT 3934
Organ: RT 689

Nice intro and the accompaniment is very good too, especially the bass. Your voice blends well with the style. Great work. Laurent

Deej,
First - I've never heard ray so Proud 'n' Loud. Great track there (perfectly processed).
And all the other tracks! A delightful BIG production. Cohesive. Terrific mix.
Vocals are, of course, terrific. Love the way you sing... "That can pull you close and keep you Gravity"
Love that chorus.
Always good to see you back.

Hi Deej! You’ve written and recorded an excellent example of 90s guitar rock - both in terms of instrumentation and your vocals. The opening and closing guitar riff is typical of the era and it works so well, especially in the outro. Ray’s bass playing is great, especially as the movement picks up in the chorus. I enjoyed listening to this! Andrew

Deej, super song and superb performances. The "gravity" metaphor is very powerful and delicately crafted. LOVE your vocals. Ray's bass is really cool, too. Those guitars are especially nice, much looser and more fluid than any BiaB sounds I've been able to squeeze out. Especially like your guitar break and outro. It all sounds big and wonderful and exactly right. GREAT tune, letting it go was definitely the right thing to do in my view.

Ah, two of my very favorites. Your singing is always something special to these ears, and Ray is my favorite bassist. He always creates the perfect lines for the song. Gravely falling through the gravity of this song. Excellent lyrics, and the perfect band and mix. Love it, Deej.

Deej, you're obviously a world-class singer, but also a top-tier songwriter. Gravity is exhibit A. There are a handful of artists on the forum that should be well-known, you're one of them. It's been such a pleasure to listen to your output the last seven years since I started on the forum. I visit your Soundcloud page often - what an inspiration.

Super strong vocal…tremendous! Had to double check it wasn’t AI (meant as a compliment, it’s that good.) Big production, well played and great lyrics.
Super job.

Deej, I've thought of this song often since tracking the bass - simply because even in it's early iteration it was a cracker and your vocal amazed. This final mix makes me sound good...thank you for that. EXCELLENT.

Great intro, really invites to your rockscape. Nice lyrics combining forces of love and space metaphors, "The laws of love’s attraction/Well, they seem to be my curse". Great band, Ray's bass is really present and those guitars sound great, especially in the verses and the solo section, everything mixed to sound clear and powerful. But your strong vocals are always the highpoint, they really sit in the mix. And I really enjoyed how you deliver so much emotion via the word "Gravity".

The excellent song theme immediately reminded me of my personal adage #53: "As gravity is the medium of light, love is the medium of gnosis." I like everything abut this song, the band, arrangement, mix and production.
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

That's right up my alley, Deej. Great song, and the vocals are the icing on the cake. Intense. You had me hooked after the intro and didn't let go. More of this, please!

Very cool song Deej. Really cool melody to this song. Rays held bass notes really gave the song a cool feel. Loved the energy build. Well done.

“Staring at the night sky
The stars and all their kin
Thinking about the fine lines
The space that we’ve been spinning in”
Wow, that grabbed us from the get go and never let go. Great write. Powerful vocal and Ray glued it all together so well.
Excellent mix too.
Enjoyed it and Happy Holidays,
J&B

Deej,
What a great collaboration. Great guitar rock sound. A nice intro that I wouldn't expect from RT. The bass is also wonderful. And above all, your vocals are amazing. Enjoyed my listen a lot. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Best regards.
