Hi,
Over the years I tried to stay a purist and only get the Audiophile upgrades but at this time I can't really justify paying close to 400 dollars Canadian for a new one. My last one was 2022 I believe. And, as it turned out, my purist intentions weren't used that often, sometimes to get a guitar solo or a blues harp solo that I could patch together into a take. But, these days, with the progress being made in MIDI transcriptions, there seems to be more opportunity to get and edit what may be needed using MIDI. So I'm wondering what options there may be for someone more budget conscious. The playable and editable real tracks seem like good possibilities along with the MIDI Supertracks. So I'm wondering which version would give me the best of both worlds. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this matter. I still respect BIAB as a program over the new AI apps because I know that the top notch players are getting paid for what they have contributed to the program.

The Ultrapak upgrade (from 2024 or earlier) for US$169 will give you everything available except for the new material that's found in this year's 49Pak.
The Ultrapak has the same tracks as the audiophile edition except the audio is in wma format rather than wav or flac format found in the Audiophile version. The Ultrapak (2026) upgrade should be able to be installed over the top of Audiophile (2022). Check with a Sales Staff first though. The blue "Chat" icon in the lower right of the web page will allow you to chat in real-time to PG Music staff.

Thank you for your reply. When I first got into BIAB in 09 it seemed that the MIDI side of things was suffering in the program. And I used to post about the real drums and wouldn't it be great to have drum stems. Those two things seem to have been improved along with other interesting editing features. So I think I could make a go of it without the wave or flac files.

So I think I could make a go of it without the wave or flac files. These days, I use the Audiophile edition of BIAB. Before that, though, I used the UltraPlusPAK for many years and I was never disappointed.
