Hello,
can anyone change my category in the FORUM? I am a few advanced user than APRENTICE.
I have been FIGHTING with the MANY MANY bugs and malfuntions of BIAB for more that 10 years now.
I like BIAB (even with its many BUGs) and use it daily in my small PIANO BAR in Spain.
Not EXPERT but not APPRENTICE.
It is not very important, but....

The title you get depends on the number of posts you make - hence one user with very little skill became an expert simply by asking so many questions!

So if one is a complete novice, joins the BIAB Forum and posts 200 questions, no answers-just questions, one can be made an Expert on the forum in a very short period of time.
Just don't ask that person for any answers.
Who knows, perhaps overnight!
Sounds like a Government run organization to me!

The Reaper Forum dealt with this years ago after so many of the same complaints. If you are interested in how they resolved it just go over to the forum and see what "designations" are assigned now.

Expert exams are being conducted every seventh Wednesday of the month. A random set of 120 questions from a manual may be asked. Aside from technical questions, a pre-requisite knowledge of various packs, PAKs, Extra, xtra and Proxtra and xtraxtraxtra content and pricing is expected. You can get 5 wrong questions to pass. No electronic devices allowed, just abacus and #2 pencils.
P.S. Don't take it hard, I have a good number of posts, I still feel like a 5th grade student.

And if I raise my hand each time I read one of the 120 questions and ask a question about that question via a forum post, by the end of the quiz I too can be classified as a PGMusic Expert simply by questioning it!
As the famous Russian Comedian, Yakov Smirnoff, always said: What a country!

I must be a kindergartener due to not passing the Yoko Ono/Free-form jazz part of the exam No you passed as you learned something from each of them: 1- you learned that Free-form jazz is not for you 2- you learned like I did that Yoko can not sing 3- neither you or I would post "screaming like Yoko" on any web site

Rusty said the questions were taken from “a” manual. He didn’t say what manual. It might be a car service manual for all we know, or a cookbook. And he already admitted the questions themselves are wrong (one of my favorite grade appeals when I was the dean of academic affairs). So, if you can wait for the seventh Wednesday of each month, give it a go.
As for Yoko Ono, I had a relative who shall remain nameless, but cousin Mike surreptitiously pumped several dozen quarters into a jukebox at the ski lift. Each new song that played over the entire mountain was the same cut, Yoko Ono screaming, quickly followed by the rest of us swearing and yelling.
Yep, the assigned label is no guarantee of future performance.

Indeed, we are just having some fun, prompted by your quite reasonable question. Where else can you go from descriptors that aren’t based on skill, to Yoko Ono?
I’ve been fooled more than once by making an assumption that someone labeled a beginner will benefit from my thorough explanation, only to find out they’ve had BIAB since the 1990s and this is only their second post ever etc. and they thoroughly know their way around the software.
