I originally posted this song 15 years--it was written around 1985, when I was living in Spokane, WA. To "refresh" it, I submitted it to Suno. Then I used the stem splitter in RB, mixed it so that I sang a "duet" with the Suno cowboy, using my original vocal, piano and bass, Suno's guitars and drum tracks. For my listening pleasure, I'll keep both the old and new as separate versions, but I mashed them together here as part of the BIAB forum's spirit. Merry Christmas from the Pacific Northwest! ------------------------------------- CHRISTMAS IN MONTANA It’s the time of year for street-corner Santas, Mistletoe and good cheer; Guess I’ll spend it with some friends in Indiana; But I just can’t find that holiday spirit ‘Cause my heart longs to be Goin’ home for CHRISTMAS IN MONTANA. In the backwoods of the Bitterroot Valley Is the place I call home; Where the holidays are pure Americana; They have Douglas Firs for Christmas trees And the stars are all real; Goin’ home for CHRISTMAS IN MONTANA. In Hamilton, the snow is driftin’. Glistenin’ in the sun; Dressin’ up the town for Christmas day; The welcome smell of tamarac burnin’ And folks returnin’ home; Bringin’ Christmas joy from miles away! Now we’re deep into the heart of December, That day of wonder drawin' near; There’s just one thing on My Christmas list for Santa; To be headin’ back to the Bitterroot valley, to the place I call home-- Goin’ home for CHRISTMAS IN MONTANA (repeat)

Hi Tom!
I love the harmony parts in this - it’s a good blend of you and cowboy. Sometimes the singing together blended too well so a little bit more left and right separation? Anyway, that’s a small nit. The song is a very easy listen. - well done.
I see you mentioned when you wrote this - do you have an extensive catalogue with much more to record? Can you notice how your writing changed over time?

I really enjoyed my listen. This is an excellent write and Suno added a good dimension to the outcome. I'm a fan of this easy-listening, laid-back kind of restful sound. It's two thumbs up from me.

It's a beautiful song, pleasant to listen to. It belongs to what I would call hybrid music, blending human creation and artificial intelligence. It's mind-blowing when you think back 40 years.

Nicely structured Xmas country song, but for me the mash spoiled the sound.

Like the rhymes, Santa with Indiana and Americana with Montana. I like how you gave the Suno singer the tougher parts, smart move. I had to look up tamarac, sounded like something at an airport. Nice tune, like the concept.
