Hi All,

Here’s our latest… Ballad Of A LoFi Girl.

She was a lofi girl
Had an old guitar
Liked Elliott Smith
And Hedy Lamarr
She’d stay up late
And tune down low
Write lots of songs
She’d never show

She was a lofi girl
Fading in the sound
All dreams and feelings
And feet on the ground
She was a lofi girl
And I knew her that way
A ghost in the chorus
That just floats away

And I’d sit quiet
Just to hear her play
Every broken chord
Was a better day
She sang, “Don’t try to fix me,
I’m just passing through”
Then looked at me hard
Like I already knew

She was a lofi girl
Fading in the sound
All dreams and feelings
And feet on the ground
She was a lofi girl
And I knew her that way
A ghost in the chorus
That just floats away

The future’s just noise
Spin the record again
Give a finger to the silence
When the music ends

She was a lofi girl
Fading in the sound
All dreams and feelings
And feet on the ground
She was a lofi girl
And I knew her that way
A ghost in the chorus
That just floats away
She was a lofi girl

Hi Bob (and Joliz)
Good one! I loved the harmonies/BVs on this one. The fact that the subject lofi girl liked Elliott Smith makes me think she had a good choice in music - melodic, emotional and vulnerable. I am wondering if she was lofi because she was just interested in getting her music down on tape to realise the idea without the search for recorded perfection, or whether this was a metaphor for her life - avoid clutter, go for the heart and not outside appearances etc.? In another way, today's perfection in recording so you can 'hear the silence' can seem empty to some, whereas the presence of the warm crackle of vinyl or hiss of tape means that even when the song ends, there is something there to fill the void. Maybe it was the loneliness?
Good music and thought-provoking lyrics - well done!

Bob and Joliz, beautiful song. Your D-18 sounds BIG and SO woody and GREAT. Love your vocals and Joliz's harmonies, and those distant BGVs make a great pad. Nice use of BiaB soloist; fits right in there perfectly. REALLY love the production and arrangement, especially the transition into/out of the bridge. Fabulous song ya'll have here.

Beautiful song with interesting lyrics (even if I don't understand all the references) and a classic yet contemporary flair.

It was a lofi song
With a hifi glow
Like Bob S Dean
With a Joliz flow.
They sang as one
Vibes cool an' free
Words always real
And in harmony.

Ha! I'm still laughing at the title. Man, there is so much to write about her (yep I know her or one like her). "A ghost in the chorus
That just floats away"

Love that guitar. Excellent harmony and BGVs by Joliz. Excellent lyrics, and a catchy melody. Love it.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Bob,

You are such a great storyteller in your tunes (lyrics are excellent)!
Nice work developing the background vocals!
The melody sticks around for a while after listening and that's always a good thing!

Take care, TB

Hi Bob,

Man, you have had a heck of a year! Just one great song after another and this is no exception.

"The future’s just noise
Spin the record again
Give a finger to the silence
When the music ends"

Wow!

Looking forward to hearing what you and Joliz come up with next year smile

Nice story of a LoFi girl in a HiFi song, a safe and catchy rsdean record. Great arrangement and mix, the solo fits perfectly. Enjoyable vocals from both of you, I especially enjoyed the finest poetry and the emotional vocals in "The future’s just noise/Spin the record again/Give a finger to the silence/When the music ends".

Bob, another fantastic story set to music. Joliz'z harmonies and backing vocals were icing on the cake. Fantastic rhythm guitar and those lead RTs fit perfectly.
Great mix.
Another winner for sure.

Hi Bob and Joliz,

A very lovely, but also sad song. Beautifully expressed in your lyrics!
That's one of your strong skills! Joliz done a subtile, but very good singing in the back!
I listened to this song for the first time, some days ago (last year, so to say). but I didn't had the time to respond.
Didn't matter, because now I had the pleasure of listening to it again.
That confirmed my first impression of it!

I wish you both a happy and healthy 2026,
Hans

We enjoyed the lighthearted feel of this and the solo guitar captured the vibe of this line so well:
“All dreams and feelings”

You’ve painted a vivid story for us.
Janice said she loves your short stories.
As does Bud 😊

The mix is superb. Pro all the way.
The soundstage is perfecto.

Great vocals and and an excellent choice of BiaB tracks. And, yeah that D-18.

Happy New Year!
