Hi Ron, as always, I love your voice and the way you sing your songs. Sometimes you start with one word, like here, "She," then a short pause, followed by the words "...let me smile." I like that effect. And here, it adds to the cheerfulness of the song. The song itself is truly a typical Ron song! Great singing!

The five acoustic guitars don't have the effect you expect. It sounds more like a wall of sound.
I think you'd get more space in your song if you took out two or three of those acoustic guitars. I know, that sounds intense. I also have a habit of (wanting to) use a lot of instruments in my songs because I love all their sounds. But after a few days, I listen back and think: "What a wall of sound!" I lose the details of those guitars. Just like I'm telling you now. Of course, I don't know who's right, but there's a saying: "Less is more."

Let's make it a good, musical year!
Hans

Hi Ron,

Great song!

Love the guitars. Also really like your vocal, especially the BGVs. Not so mad about the drums, too busy for my tastes.

But yeah, great way to kick off 2026!

Enjoyable vocals once again, the last high hey heys sound very clean to me. Those backing vocals work perfectly, your hard work is rewarded with a highly pleasant listening experience.

THANKS, Janne! Honestly, we have so few songs that could be interpreted as "happy" I couldn't NOT post this one. smile So for me, these lyrics were...Serendipity!

Why, THANK YOU, Lee! Yes, OF COURSE I have blips and rawness in my vocal takes. But I edit them out, or try to. Have posted many times that *I can't sing*. But I do know how to shape a vocal performance so that it's not distracting for the listener. If I have a talent, that may be the one. Glad you enjoyed the tune!

I enjoyed the vocals - the harmonies are cool.
fabulous arrangement/dynamics and a fab song overall.

THANKS, rayc! Understand about the hard panning. FWIW, there are six guitars, and I organized them in three pairs. The first two guitars are panned 100% L&R. The second two are panned 60%, and the last two are panned 40%. The first pair are more prominent in the mix, and are active over about 2/3 of the song. I could probably pull them all in a bit. But...100% of my songs use hard panned instruments, usually guitars. It's just my thing, for better or worse, and I like it myself, which is why I keep at it. Still, there may be some rebalancing in order, and I'll listen for this again. Am not hearing the kick clicks but I'll look at those as well. I have tinnitus as well. Crickets. All the time.

Glad you enjoyed the vocals (blush) and the song overall. It's a trifle, but what's life without trifles? smile

This is my first visit to the User Showcase in a while and my first song to listen to. It's quite impressive. Overall everything is glued together in the mix, good lyrics and an admiral vocal and background production.

I like your first resolution and the fact you relied on the power of the Style unmodified. Enjoyed my listen.

I love powerpop, and no one on the forum does powerpop better than you. Catchy as hell and would have been a hit in the 80s. The way you put the guitars together sounds awesome.

Thanks for the nice (happy!) review, Hans!

On those guitars, a "wall of sound" is exactly the effect I was going for. For this song, the guitars are more of a jangly texture than anything else. That being said, you only hear more than four guitars for about :40, and there are a couple of sections with only two guitars. The intent was to provide a shifting backdrop while demoing the breadth of sounds available in this RealStyle. May be a fail though...it's still HAPPY!

“Elements of laughter
Bouncing down the street
Outside the café
Where we would meet
Serendipity
Or my destiny
I just can’t afford to stop
Outside the ice cream shop
Under the midday heat”

What a great start to a great lyric!

This reminded Janice of one of her favorite quotes:
“Be so happy that when others look at you they become happy too.”
And listening to your song made us happy.

We always like your vocal arrangements and this one is excellent.
The early 60’s band feel and groove is most cool.
Stellar in mix, write, vocals and the session guys.

Enjoyed it!

Everything fits together so perfectly and it's a pleasure to sit back, enjoy and smile. I'm a fan of feel-good songs and this definitely had me feeling good and feeling entertained in a satisfying and pleased way.

Thanks, Dave. Yeah, those drums seems to be divisive, though I've decided I like them in this song. Glad you enjoyed the tune!

Whew! Glad I didn't wreck your Showcase forum revisit experience. smile

Welcome back!

100% of our songs start with a RealStyle (or MIDIstyle), and probably 90% will only use the instruments in that style. I know a lot of folks augment BiaB with different drums, pianos, guitars, etc, and their stuff sounds great. But I can usually get the textures I'm looking for by manipulating a single style, especially if there are more than four instruments in the style.

Ron, nothing wrong with resolutions! Without setting some goals, we end up being stuck where we are and wondering why! This song has such a powerful driving sound thanks primarily to that thumping bass, it really provides a lot of energy to the song!
Your vocals are always so good and blend great with those harmony bgd vocals!
Great tune and performance! Enjoyed all the way through!

Hey, Ron,

Another ace job! You are so talented.

I got a strong Gary Lewis and the Playboys vibe as I listened. And for me, that's a good thing! This is one of your best vocals - spot on. Just more proof here, that you never disappoint!

Best to you,

Alan

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
