A little over a year ago, I taught myself to play electric lead (in one long night). There's been a whole bunch of noise in our house since. I have a hard time putting down my guitar(s) - or doing anything else. At the beginning, I had little knowledge of amps or guitar effects. It was all a mystery. (No longer the case). Along the way, I tried as many amps as I could get my hands on. The free ones first and later many of the gotta-pay-for ones. Took me a long time before I was willing to pay for S-Gear, even though Tom Adams and Dave Bell both swear by it. They were right. It is THE only one you need. The one you should have if you are serious about software amps. Hands down, I could give opinions on all the others if anyone wants to know.... BUT.... There is one free amp - and all the typical effects you might need - that is well worth your time if you are looking for a freebee... Get everything on this page: https://www.nembriniaudio.com/collections/freeLoad up the standalone host (NA Live Rig) and play... It is Sweeeeeeet! It is my 2nd go-to. (Close to the sound quality of S-gear). (And I have Amplitube 5 MAX - with every amp and effect you could ever think of...good stuff, but...) (And Guitar Rig Pro 7 - which ends up very far down on my list) (And BIAS FX.... and.... and....and.... etc...etc...)

What's the download installer do? Seems to be required ... To be honest, I don't remember. It's been a while. But if memory serves, it was easy and quick and not troublesome. Perhaps Andrew can say what his experience was...

What's the download installer do? Seems to be required ... To be honest, I don't remember. It's been a while. But if memory serves, it was easy and quick and not troublesome. Perhaps Andrew can say what his experience was... Hi Floyd and Rob I clicked the link - it took me to a page where I had to create an account, then I downloaded and installed the 'Nembrini Audio Central' which is an installer and license manager. Once Audio Central was installed, I opened it, logged in, and it presented me with the screen you can see in the attachment 'Nembrini Audio Central'. ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=32222&filename=Nembrini Audio Central.png) I looked for the free plugins, downloaded and installed a couple, then chose the 'Live Rig' and the installation of that one installed all the other free plugins. Maybe I should have started with that one first! I chose to NOT receive marketing materials and offers. When I opened Reaper, it scanned all the plugins - I couldn't see the Live Rig but all the individual plugins were there to select. I tried one on an existing stem and it worked. I opened Live Rig (see pic attached 'Rig with FX inserted') and added all the plugins into the rig layout. ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=32227&filename=Rig with FX inserted.png) I selected INSERT and saw a list of other (not free) plugins but could also see the freebies I had downloaded. (see attached 'Plugins available') ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=32226&filename=Plugins available.png) I guess they want you to be tempted to buy other plugins. I also took a screenshot of the plugins expanded (see attached 'Show all FX'). ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=32228&filename=Show all FX.png) So it was okay as far as the download and instal process went - but I was in a hurry and didn't read as carefully as I should. You know - like a boy in a lolly shop. I haven't lost my kidneys (yet). Andrew

Andrew - thanks for posting the pics.
As I'm sure you've realized...the Live Rig is a standalone Desktop app - so you can play without having to call up a DAW. Everything else can be used in your DAW like any other effect....

Thanks Floyd - yes, I realised that late yesterday evening. Normally to try out guitar tones and effects, I’d be opening Reaper, loading the plugins, arming the track then playing. Now, it’s standalone! I like the way it allows you to save a rig so if you find a good combination, you can save it for later. Good find! Andrew
