It is not so easy because we would need more information on what kind of guitar and what style are you looking for.
Dr Dan's suggestion is great for acoustic guitar.
I like NI Sessions Guitarist - picked nylon for a nylon guitar.
You have Studio One Pro so you already have some guitar plugins.
If you have Kontakt there are many different guitar plugins - I like Soundprop's guitars for both electric and acoustic guitars.
There are a lot of other options available including PGM, IK Multimedia, Etc.

FYI - Native Instruments (NI) is in financial trouble, check the off topic forum. So you might want to hold off on any NI purchases for now. If you do get an NI product make sure to install it and immediately back it up. Just my two cents.

Mario,
Perhaps NOW is a perfect time to get Session stuff, before they decide to do one of those "sub only" traps smile
Session guitars, bases and ukulele, had only minor bug improvements since initial release. They are, what they are. Maybe not the best sampled guitars, but definitely in upper 10%, even now after a decade of first release from the series. When on sale, most are $50, or you can pick them up "used" (license transfer) for same. VST3 should last (be supported) at least another decade or so, judging by previous versions, even if NI goes bye bye.

The whole NI Session suit is amazing companion to BIAB. especially now, when there is BIAB option to "protect" certain note range on Chord track for key switches. Then you export MIDI chord track to DAW and it will perform same way as you programmed it in BIAB.

shlind, another one of my favorites is Silk2 by Ujam. Nylon string, phrase based guitar. Syncs very well to BIAB. As with session guitars, phrases will follow your BIAB chords. You can pick it up for $20 on sale.

--------------------------------
Mario,
Is Soundprop phrase based (as session or ujam) or just sampled guitars? Will it follow (recognize) Midi chord track?

Misha, I have a number of guitar, bass, and uke software, but I will keep an eye out for Session sales.

I forgot to mention Ujam products. I have most if not all of their guitar programs.

Soundprop guitars are not phrase based. They will follow any BiaB track. With the chord track it will follow it as is or with Soundprops' strum mode BUT you will only get one strum per measure as the chords in the track are one measure long. You can shorten the chord track to say quarter notes and copy and paste so you get strummed chord on each beat. Also eight note chord strums. I personally have only messed with this procedure and haven't used it in a song, yet.

I hope this helps.

Mario,
thanks!
"you will only get one strum per measure" That's a bummer for me.

Thanks,
I mainly looking for something that can give me the "Rhythm guitar" in various strummings/patterns and chord chops, with a drive over a chord track with mainly one chord per bar. (It should produce the strumming pattern even if it is only one chord in the bar).
Mainly for country, rock, pop, blues and alike.

I didn’t know I have guitars in SPO (I’lll check it out).
I also have SILK2 and several other UJAM guitars but I removed them since I did not really get along with them. I’ll give it another more thorough try.

Silk2 and Amber2 are probably most "common sense" guitars from the series. Ujam over spices phrase presets with fx a lot of times. The trick is to disable them all (fx), making patterns sound natural and then start playing with settings to match sound you are after matching your tune. if you need help setting it up (ujam) in BIAB, let me know, I can try to help. Perhaps in a fresh thread.

Yes, it is a bummer for me also, but they are not designed to be a strummed instrument.
But they do work extremely well with BiaB MIDI guitar tracks.

Here's an interesting video on the use of Tonalic for adding tonalics to an existing musical idea (piano audio and its chord track).

To shlind , have a look at Strum GS 2
I've happily used it for years.

re TONALIC.

I used the free version to add guitar parts on my song broke down fine

FWIW, I found it to be easy to use and was greatly impressed with it. The full version is via subscription which is something that I will have to debate as I prefer to buy outright. IMO Celemony are on to a winner with Tonalic.

cheers

Izzy.

Another +1 for Strum GS2. I also have used it for years.
But if one is going to buy it wait for a sale. Most of the time one can get it for half price.

The half price sales happen every time they release a new preset bank for one of their apps. The new preset bank plus all of the existing banks and the associated full app are all 50% off. Strum GS-2 has gotten a couple of new preset banks recently.

Check their website regularly. They post each new preset bank at the top of the home page.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
