This is a pop song about global warming. Among the reasons Lora and I moved out of Phoenix, Arizona, is because the heat is progressively getting worse, the electrical grid may fail, and the water table is shrinking. They continue to build and grow despite what scientists warn. I selected the instrumentation in the style of Roxy Music's "Avalon" album. Emina Bajtarevic did the vocals. But now the leaves have died, the sun is hot, we are on our own We tried to point to the signs but no one is watching The earth is scorched and the oceans rise, and the fires burn If the world ends where will we ever love again. Our garden is dying It needs all of our loving care. If we are going to write more songs of love Can you tell me if The world ends where will we ever love again. And now we're hermits in a city where they all pretend Nothing's wrong, life rolls on as we pollute the air If we are going to try to mend the earth, we must cooperate Will you care, we must try to learn to share again. Our garden is dying It needs all of our loving care. If we are going to write more songs of love Can you tell me if The world ends where will we ever love again. The world ends Where will we ever love again. The world ends Where will we ever love a- Gain, ah ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah The world ends Where will we ever love again.

Hi John! Great song and a good message. I love the music and melody when it moves to ‘Our garden …’
The style of the drums and acoustic guitar had a Sugar Ray (the band) vibe to it - which I like.
Good video as well!

Thank you, Andrew! Interestingly, when I posted it on Broadjam, it didn't do well. It may be because our society doesn't want to acknowledge the actual effects of global warming. I really immersed myself in it while putting the video together. Sugar Ray, eh? I'll have to look them up. I've heard of them but not familiar with their style.

John, it is hard to listen to a song about global warming while I'm freezing my butt off shoveling snow A great song with a great message that I wish more countries would take seriously.
Life is short so make sure you spend as much time as possible on the Internet arguing with strangers.

Guess what, Mario. The unusual deep freeze rushing across middle America is part of the unusual weather patterns occurring because of global warming. In California, the most devastating fires were in the southern part of the state from late October through November. Now the pattern includes more months and has moved to northern California, Oregon, and British Columbia. A year ago, two fires swept through Pacific Palisades and Altadena into the flat areas which really surprised me. Lora and I left Phoenix in 2024 after going through the hottest summer on record. The electrical grid is outdated, the water table is depleting rapidly, and they still won't listen to the warnings from scientists. Also, the extreme conservative politics and anger drove us out, too. I wrote "If the World Ends" in 2023. Scott Jordan and I released two versions of it. Neither did well on Broadjam's charts. They're not ready for a message like that. Thank you for listening, liking and understanding it, Mario. John

A cool song on a hot theme! You're spot on regarding our need for co-operation, yet all we have in the world is more and more division as the 'holy economy' is primary and our elected dictators serve the banks and corporations - never the people who elected them as we're just economic units, not persons - thus as the 'holy economy' must forever expand there can never be an end to global warming. Equally as dangerous is the greed for others resources to keep the 'holy economy' growing, so it's heads or tails as to how our corporate masters bring our lack-of-civilisation to en end! … I obviously totally relate to your song!
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Hi, John.
Writing a "message" song can be tricky, and I think this threads the needle well.
Emina did a really nice job with the vocals.
Nicely done.

Hi, WB. Thank you much for your response! My wife, Lora, and I moved out of Phoenix, Arizona just after the worst recorded run of high temperatures in history. We came to Yucaipa, California in 2024. While staying at motels before finding our current home, I saw online Jack Prosibiec begin the CPAC event with, "Welcome to the end of democracy. We are here to overthrow it completely!" That frightened and chilled me. Wasn't the rest of the country listening? I told Lora we had to get to work right away and find who was running for office in our district. The day after the election was like waking into a horrible nightmare. The rapid takeover and inhumane atrocities have left us anxious and depressed. If ever there was a need for cooperation, it's now. As for global warming, the current regime expects elementary school children to be taught how global warming benefits humans! I try to stay creative to stay sane. I have a couple of friends in the UK I met on Broadjam. Bob Bentley from Wareham who has played on several of my songs and who co-wrote "Nature of the Game," and Robert Quigley from Inverness, Scotland. Both are first class and wonderful collaborators. I have mine and our songs on my website with some political themes like "Ride the Wave" and "Equal" along with songs just about life at https://www.johnwalradt.com/music/index.html if you have free time and wonder what the heck to do. Anyway, thank you very much and it's a pleasure to get such a response. All the best to you. John

Hi, DC. Thank you for your "thread the needle" response! Yep, it's a challenge to bring something like that across without being preachy. My writing method is conversational and it's a good storytelling approach. I found Emina, from Serbia I think, on either FiveRR or Airgigs. I see you're in Sacramento. I always enjoyed going through there and into the foothills to the east. I was in Phoenix, Arizona, for a couple of decades and upon retiring we moved to Yucaipa which we were very happy to do. Thank you again for listening! John

Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
