I'm just recently re-visiting Realband for doing some multi-track recordings after a long hiatus from recording. (I started years ago with PTPA and RB shortly thereafter).

The Audio File Type in my RB 2026 settings is 24-bit 48, same in Win10. UMC204HD interface using ASIO on the recording computer in RB and windows audio with a Creative Audigy FX card using windows audio on the playback & editing computer.

I recorded a few songs by playing instruments on separate audio tracks while the midi styles were playing. After recording and loading the songs into RB on my editing computer I highlighted a track and chose AUDIO EFFECTS. I immediately received a warning stating that "The plugin you selected doesn't support 24-bit or 96k files".

Question 1 is (assuming that I need to "downgrade" the songs to 44.1) how do I accomplish that without messing up the timing of the tracks, audio vs midi, or will they not be affected. I know how to change the settings in the preferences / options, so I'm wondering if any other settings need to be changed or check-boxed once I make the changes in the audio device options settings, or if none are needed.

Question 2 is where does the 96k come from? I don't think that's in my settings in RB or BIAB or in the Win 10 settings. Or is that just an informational statement that's just coded into the popup message?

If altering the settings to 44.1 would affect the timing or anything else in the existing song, I'd probably just have to resort to constructing the song in RB using the existing 48 /24 setting and then export the wav tracks and import them all to Reaper and do the individual track tweaking with the plugins there.

So otherwise it looks like future recordings in RB will have to be at 44.1 24-bit to begin with?

I searched the forum here, but I didn't come up with anything - forgive me if it's there and I missed it.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Don't resample.
Use real-time plugins, not the archaic ones in the Audio Effects setting. Those are destructive edits anyway.

Click the little FX button in the Tracks view to access the real-time plugins.

/yes, most likely the 96kHz part is just part of the popup as you surmised

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Glad that helped
If you have a recent version (and really want to hard write an effect, which I don't recommend) there is an entry in the list called '64 bit DX/VST FX' (or close).
That will let you hard write a section using the real-time plugins.
But why do that?

// I made my FX button that blue light color that you see on some equipment, looks pretty cool that way wink

Thanks for the info, I was wondering what that was for. But, no hard writing for me, I'm as happy as a clam with the FX button on the tracks window. That's perfection IMO. Thanks again!
