Body and Soul entered into the public domain in January 2026. I sang and did a harp solo. It's a daunting song, but I did it anyway.

RealTracks in style: ~~481:Bass, Acoustic, Jazz Ballad Sw 085
RealTracks in style: ~~487:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm Jazz Ballad Sw 085
RealTracks in song: ~484:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Jazz Ballad Sw 085
RealTracks in song: ~~746:Guitar, Electric, Soloist Jazz Ballad Sw 085 (Bluesy)
RealDrums [in style:Jazz#1: Terry Clarke
Vocals and harmonica: Me (No AI)

My heart is sad and lonely
For you I sigh, for you dear only
Why haven't you seen it?
I'm all for you, body and soul

I spend my days in longing
And wondering why it's me you're wronging
I tell you, I mean it
I'm all for you, body and soul

I can't believe it, it's hard to conceive it
That you'd turn away romance
Are you pretending? It looks like the ending
Unless I could have one more chance to prove, dear

My life a wreck you're making
You know I'm yours for just the taking
I'd gladly surrender
Myself to you, body and soul

Rob,

This is an absolutely stunning cover of this song. One of your very best vocals. Such awesome phrasing and so nuanced. The arrangement, mix and tracks selection is perfect. LOVE the harmonica solo.

A new favorite!

Love the production, instrumentation and solos in this song, but I think both the style and lyrics demand a really good female jazz vocalist, either a Fiverr lady or Suno.

Ha!

Super job, Rob.

VERY finely sung vocals with some deliciously nuanced lines. Love the harp solo, too. The overall arrangement is quite traditional, and the song VERY well known, but I'm left with the impression of hearing something fresh. That's not easy to do. So...well done!

The tradeoff with the guitar soloist is a treat. That BiaB performer is Oliver Gannon, Peter's brother. Love his stuff. He used to have his own PG Music app, "The Jazz Guitarist", but it's gone now. I can still play a pretty mean "A Foggy Day" though. smile

The band is really nice, too. BiaB started with a focus on jazz backing tracks, and they always sound WAY better than fine to my ears. A shame we so seldom hear them on this forum.

Great job!

Bob, thanks so much! As I've said many times, I don't have a lot of confidence vocally, so this motivates me to keep plugging away.

Yeah, but Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Anita O'Day (I met her once), Blossom Dearie, Astrud Gilberto and even Diana Krall and Norah Jones are shouting "Yeah, that's a song for me!" laugh laugh

Wow, thanks for such a great review, Ron! And thanks for mentioning OG! One of my main ways to practice harp is to set up a tune where I trade eights with Oliver. I have done this so much I feel like I know the guy. One of the great things you can do with BIAB. Would love to hear your "A Foggy Day" someday!

Hi Rob.

You've create a fine presentation here. I love what you've done and how you put it together. When I listen to you play harmonica, I always come away wishing that I had learned to play the instrument. It's such a soulful sound.Terrific arrangement, production, instrumentals and vocals.

I enjoyed it.

Thanks, Noel. You're a good pianist, I think that lends itself well to the chromatic harmonica layout. The best harmonica player in the world, Howard Levy, is a good pianist. GIve it a shot!

To you or anyone interested, I have a Soundclick page of 23 BIAB backed harmonica instrumentals. It's called The HarpBreak Kid. Here is a link to it:

Hi Rob,

Why did you ever use AI with such a voice? It sounds amazing!
I agree with all the positive comments here, although I'm not really a fan of jazz.
But the way you sang it here almost threatens to change my opinion of jazz...

Hans

Hey Bob,

Well, you certainly made this one your own!

Vocal sounds good to me, very unique, and works well for this material. Harp is great! I enjoyed the guitar part too.

Nicely done, enjoyed!

Hans, you're too kind. I didn't like jazz until I was 50 years old, so there's hope...

Thanks, Laurent. Nobody will ever confuse me with someone like, say, Tony Bennett, but I'm fairly happy with it!
