Hello again folks. This is meant to be a slightly tongue-in-cheek take on the powerful lure of temptation. The lyrics:

Jars of ale, rooms of play
Be the end of me one day
All I chase, all I crave
Digs me deeper in my grave
And there's nothing I can do
Nothing I can really do

Was a time I had much more
Angels knocking at my door
Coin to spare, I had it all
Then I heard the wildwood call
And there's nothing I can do
Nothing I can really do

I know I've sinned, I'll sin again
No mystery, the cause of my complaint
But what you see is what you get
It's not as though I try and act the saint - you know I ain't

The money comes, the money goes
Where it gets to I don't know
Leaves me with an aching head and strangers sleeping in my bed
And there's nothing I can do
Nothing I can really do (Repeat)

Hi Mick

I really enjoyed this, had several listens. Your strong vocals were spot on. A really nice mix of all instruments. There was one instrument that I felt was at odds with the mix, the accordion for me didn’t work and discordant, perhaps that was as intended but for me it detracted from what is a very good production and write.

Nevertheless this is a really good song, I enjoyed it. Kind regards.

Good song, good lyrics, and you sing it very well.
I like how you build up the song and the overall mood.
The Accordion is not for me, to me it sounds misplaced in this song.
But the rest is really good [Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]

Mick, this is an outstanding song
Outstanding vocal and lyrics
Great mix
With this groove and overall tonal qualities of this song I agree that the accordion is not a good fit. However it didn't distract me enough not to love it.
Loved it

Yeah, I've been known to occasionally get carried away instrumentally. Was going for a bit of a Los Lobos feel but looks like I whiffed. Comments very useful and much appreciated. Thanks.

HI, Mick.

A nice bit of Americana-sounding music.

I agree the concertina wandered a bit, but it didn't distract much.

Catchy! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Mick.

This is really entertaining. I loved the lyrics, music, arrangement and especially your singing. It's clear that you know what you're doing and you have the knack for creating and presenting a great song.

I enjoyed the ride!

Well done, Mick. Cool song with a nice hook. The strong arrangement creates great dynamic flow. Super mix, too. REALLY like how the vocals are sung, though a less distorted FX chain might suit the song better. The accordion didn't bother me, but I was focused on other parts of the song for sure, so I wouldn't miss it if it weren't there either. Very cool tune for sure.

I think you have a unique voice (Loved it). A little rasp on verses and crystal clean on choursus’.

The only instrument, to each his own, was the Accordion. It seemed out of place, IMO. I could hear a 60’s type Detuned Organ/ B3 with a little more mellow blend that would fit with the rest of your perfect mix of instruments.

Great song either way. I thought it was fantastic!

Hi Mick,

Love the feel happening on this one, great groove, love your vocal too. I agree with the other comments about the accordion, all the other instrumentation sounds good though.

Good song, enjoyed.
