Here's the remix. Country Jukin' So.... Here's what I want to know. On my speakers, the levels of the instruments as they take a solo, are balanced within reason. Same thing on the studio cans. However in the buds, things are all off. Take a listen and let me know how you are hearing it. Are the instrument levels appropriate, out of balance, too low, or too loud. Minor changes in a few tracks. Thanks for listening.

Herb, cool song. On the soloists, I listened on studio monitors and studio headphones. Am reminded of the story of the Three Bears...
The steel is a little soft The piano is a little hard (Also: Sounds like stereo, but is way to the right) The guitar is just right
Just my takeaways on my gear. Have noticed balancing disparity between sound sources many times with my songs, and know it can be frustrating.

Really nice sound through my cans Herb. Guitar sounds a little quieter compared to the keys, but other than that all good. A real toe tapping travelling song indeed.
Excellent, kind regards.

Hi Herb! I'm listening through Sennheiser open-backed headphones. Here's what I noted ... 0.00 Guitar - quiet 0.13 Piano - good 0.35 Steel - good 1.02 Guitar - quiet 1.08 Steel - quiet 1.10 Guitar - quiet 1.15 Steel - good 1.23 Guitar - quiet 1.39 Piano - good 2.05 Steel - good 2.22 Piano - good 2.25 Guitar - quiet
Where 'good' means consistently sitting above the band, while 'quiet' can be heard but not quite as distinct above the band as the piano and steel. Note the steel was also quiet at 1:08.
This piece would come under the descriptor 'rollicking' in my book - real likeable toe-tapper!
Andrew PS I should say I have just had a hearing test and have noticeable drop-off in both ears from 1500hz and significant above 3000hz - in case that's affecting what I'm hearing.

This mix is closer but yep.... The guitar is consistently a few dB low and the one steel part in the "swapping leads" part is also a few dB low. It's subtle but important. This has been a tough one to get right but with ears like yours and such a detailed report ... It is a great confirmation of what I am thinking. Thank you for such a good, detailed report.

I'm just not that picky about mixes unless I can't hear something. I could hear everything fine on this, so I think you're good. WIll this become a song?

Nice interplay between the guitars and piano. The mix sound very good to me.

Hmmm. You might be right, Herb. I listened through a couple time, with and without cans. Without headphones there was no question about the balance, but with them I was more distracted by the snap of the snare. Well, we've already established that you ears are magic compared to mine and most everyone else, Herb, so let me talk about the sound.
Man, that was some fine fast-pickin', spit-kickin' playing.

I'm just not that picky about mixes unless I can't hear something. I could hear everything fine on this, so I think you're good. WIll this become a song? This actually was a song. I wrote it a while back for a film placement. It wasn't used . I simply removed the vocal tracks, made a number of edits and added steel and piano, shortened it a here it is. It was previously called prisoner of shame. I think it was posted here and should be searchable

Herb, everything sounds balanced as I listened through my near field monitors and my AKG headphones. I actually sounds like it was recorded in a pro studio - great work on that.

I'm not a country music fan but it's very well done and I'm fascinated by the virtuosity of the musicians. Laurent

It was previously called prisoner of shame. I think it was posted here and should be searchable I found it but the box link doesn't work anymore. Don't go to any trouble, I'm sure it was ACE...
