I wrote this song in 2023 a year before elections as a Democrat call to action for a blue wave to sweep the nation. It went to #1 Rock on the Broadjam charts. It has a Twisted Sister influence. Shaun Gaffney put in his own electric guitars and piano so I'm not sure which Band in a Box tracks he left out when he mixed and mastered it. Matt Orion from Italy did the vocals. I made the video with Movavi software. John, energetic tune with really nice vocals/vocal arrangement. The bridge is a nifty change of pace. Well mixed, too. Can certainly see how this could be an online hit. Belated congratulations!

Nice, John, and the video is as strong as the swong --good match. Every necessary ingredient in a terrific protest song, lyrics in particular and that strong vocal (wish it was more up front, but that wouldn't be right for the genre). Every musician felt the same and you put them all in the right mix.

Love the arrangement. Vocal sounds a little high frequency maybe even with my ears a little short on picking up the high frequency but it could be just down to personal preference..

Hi John! A good rocker and really suits the protest nature of the song. I can hear the Twisted Sister influence for sure. Andrew

Raw and dirty - perfect for a protest song. I love the chorus “No, (No!)”, I can see the crowd shouting along. Enjoyed my listen ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif)

John, a great rocking protest song.
Life is short so make sure you spend as much time as possible on the Internet arguing with strangers.

Hi John
I think I said in a previous post, you’re able to produce some great music that’s spans several genres. Definitely a Twisted Sister rock anthem here, and Mario has excelled on the vocal. Great production.
Kind regards

Hey, everyone. Lots of comments from all of you who make wonderful music. It's a huge meaningful compliment to see these coming from you. I wanted to answer these for you.
John
----------
Re: Ride the Wave [by DC Ron] John, energetic tune with really nice vocals/vocal arrangement. The bridge is a nifty change of pace. Well mixed, too. Can certainly see how this could be an online hit. Belated congratulations!
Thank you Ron! When the melody came to me, it seemed like a 60s Kinks kind of thing, but the more I composed the more I thought this thing could really rock! I was already thinking of what we call "the blue wave."
----------
Re: Ride the Wave [by TuneMonger] Wow, this jam has some serious slam! Nice work
Hey, TM, Thank you! I really wanted to put a lot of punch into it. I'll pass this onto Shaun Gaffney, who goes by "Arden Snow." He did some serious mixing/mastering on it.
----------
Re: "I'm Not Coming Back," a Motown/disco styled song [by TuneMonger] Another good jam, the vocal was great and that BIAB bass really stood out for me. BGVs were terrific, too.
Thank you, TM! I usually have to work at it to focus on the bass. I really tune into the treble clef. That's just how my ears work. So I'm glad the bass came through! I usually don't have to do much with BIAB instruments in EQ or compression as they are already recorded so well.
----------
Re: Ride the Wave [by WaoBand] Great protest rock song!
Thank you, WB!

Thank you much, Marty! We remember what real protest songs were about back in the 60s! Now all I have to do is update the video.
----------
Re: Ride the Wave [by vicarn] Love the arrangement. Vocal sounds a little high frequency maybe even with my ears a little short on picking up the high frequency but it could be just down to personal preference.. Vic.
Hey, Vic. You're the only one that picked up on the only thing that bugged me! The vocals were a little lower in frequency to start with and I realized after a month or so that Shaun had brought out the higher frequencies a bit in the mixing. I have my tracks but I'd like to get his tracks, too, just to see what I could do with it. But overall it really worked well.
----------
Re: Ride the Wave [by Andrew Dee] Hi John! A good rocker and really suits the protest nature of the song. I can hear the Twisted Sister influence for sure. Andrew
Hi, Andrew! Yep, if there's one thing we both know since we're melody people, the tune really has to musically fit the emotion of the theme and words of the song. Thank you much!

Re: Ride the Wave [by B.D.Thomas] Raw and dirty - perfect for a protest song. I love the chorus “No, (No!)”, I can see the crowd shouting along. Enjoyed my listen [Linked Image]
Hey, BD! You betcha, raw and dirty! That's what I went for...served like a big sloppy oval platter at a corner diner! Something with a lot of grit and punch! Thank you for your listening and enjoyment of it!
----------
Re: Ride the Wave [by Noel96] Hi John. This is great! An excellent write, arrangement, performance and production. Congratulations on a terrific song. --Noel
Thank you, Noel! I just noticed a couple of yours yesterday. "A World of Wonder" is a really lovely song and tells us how we cannot take for granted our time here on earth, and that our planet is on a delicate balance.
----------
Re: Ride the Wave [by MarioD] John, a great rocking protest song.
Hey, Mario. Thank you! You remember, too, back in the 60s and 70s we listened to great protest songs. The one that really stood out to me was Neil Young's "Ohio." You know how to jam like Carlos Santana. "10 Below" is a beautiful ride!

Re: Ride the Wave [by Knee Wobbler] Hi John I think I said in a previous post, you’re able to produce some great music that’s spans several genres. Definitely a Twisted Sister rock anthem here, and Mario has excelled on the vocal. Great production. Kind regards
Hey, KW! Thank you very much! But watch out...Mario might wonder, "Hmm, when did I do that? Where's my memory gone to?" Actually, that was Matt Orion on vocals. He really knocked it out and I really liked the "I say..." he worked in there. Don't forget, you really come out with terrific tunes. "Red Dirt Roads" and "Without a Word of a Lie" knocked me over! I really like what you've put together and you're among the few that have the unique vocal and delivery, or in other words, your sound. It's what all other artists strive to find.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
