New documentary hits Prime Video on Feb 27
Man on the run.
A documentary about Paul McCartney after the Beatles broke up and he started Wings. The preview looks interesting so it might be worth a watch.

First rock concert I ever attended was Wings Over America in Atlanta, May 1976. Still my best concert ever. Remember thinking Paul looked so OLD. Ha! Hard to believe it's been 50 years... I'll be watching the documentary for sure.

I wonder how long The Beatles money train will continue to chug down the track? I guess until those of us who remember them are all gone.

I doubt it will totally fizzle out even then.
The catalog is too huge if you include everyone's solo work, like this documentary pertains to.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

I wonder how long The Beatles money train will continue to chug down the track? I guess until those of us who remember them are all gone. I firmly believe that The Beatles music will be played in one form or another for centuries. No different to the other great composers whose music has lived on, Vivaldi, Mozart, Bach and many more. It's a different genre, but is still instantly recognizable.

My father refused to let me watch their appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show, but a decade later, I caught him, oblivious to the irony, whistling along with a Henry Mancini cover of one of their songs. My guess is that the Skynet AI will be generating sampled Silly Little Love Songs long after the terminators have wiped us out of existence.

Yep. You just gave a perfect example. Maybe not everyone liked Bach or Schumann the first time around too?

Watched it last night, it's good, full of footage I never saw before. I never knew he was jailed in Japan. A musical genius for sure.

New documentary hits Prime Video on Feb 27 A documentary about Paul McCartney after the Beatles broke up and he started Wings. The preview looks interesting so it might be worth a watch. Thanks for alerting us to this. I completely coincidently just read the Kindle editions of The McCartney Legacy: The First and Second Volumes of a Deep Look at the Post-Beatles Life and Career of the Rock Legend. I’ve just started watching the documentary and so far I follows the books quite closely.

Ugh! We tried to watch it but about halfway through we bailed.
The overall production felt kinda lame, like a college arts class project. They wasted time at the beginning with a boring rehashing of the same old, tired Beatles mythology, "He broke up the band" "No, he broke up the band" Who cares about that any longer? Then they explored how bad Paul's early solo work was. And I guess the point was he got better later with Wings? As for Paul's music, I lost interest after McCartney, his first solo effort. To me, very little of Paul's post-Beatles work was noteworthy. Erase his Beatles legacy and not much of what he did after 1970 would likely have charted. Same criticism applies to John and George (Ringo was never a singer anyone wanted to hear even with The Beatles!)
If you are a Beatles fan and want to see something fun, watch Peter Jackson's Get Back. That was an enjoyable documentary.
