Still working on redoing some of our older songs, a few more left wink This is a remix of one we did in 2018:

For the remake I built a new drum track using EZDrummer3, and Marty did a bass track.

The band:
RealTracks in song: 2619:Organ, Rhythm Funk Ev 100 (2 instances of this, I used both the normal and the simple version)

I recorded three guitar tracks, two rhythm and a lead track.
Guitars as always go through the S-Gear amp sim.
Wha guitar was recorded using my Cry Baby pedal that I've had since the early 90's.

Mixed in Reaper with plugins from iZotope and Waves, mastered with Ozone 12

Video was done by Chris.

The Blue Line (2018, Christiane Spruit)

New day dawn
in the limelight
Sun will drag the gloom behind the blue line

Buildings high
at the skyline
waiting for the people to get online

Chorus:
I guess it's just a feeling in the city
People come and go and passing by
I have pondered for a while, but found no answer
Don't know do I feel alive

Busy Bees
they get the honey
Wear a decent dress to get the money

Camera eyes, mesmerize
a company that offers you free wi-fi

Chorus

Buildings high
scrape the skyline
Sun will drag the gloom behind the blue line

A neon sign
advertise
Selling you a dream in supersize

Chorus

Vamp out: Don't know do I feel alive

Appreciate all that listen and comment!

Dave & Chris,

Wow! Outstanding! Some really wicked guitar lines and a great groove. That Wha sound is infectious. LOVE the vocal by Chris - completely in the pocket. She has such a great sound. Another excellent bass track by Marty (as always).

AWESOME remix. I also think the video is very cool. A perfect match for the song.

LOVED IT!

Bob

Funky! Great job by all. REALLY like the vocal arrangement in the middle section and outro. Great guitar work throughout, and the rhythm section is really tight. SUPER production, mix, etc.

The Cry Baby is another of those iconic vintage tools that just never gets old.

Different genre twist this time from ya'll, but the same dynamite sonic pleasure for the listener. smile

Hi Dave and Chris,

That is such a great funky groove, you had me hooked with the tension right from the outset. And your lead guitar is phenomenal. The production quality is very clear everything in the right place and at the right level. Some quality sassy vocals as well, with all the other elements makes this song a winner. Definitely worthy of half a dozen listens…going back for more.

Loved it, kind regards.

Thanks very much, Bob!

The video was done by Chris back in 2018, I just replaced the audio and re-uploaded it.

Great energy, searing guitar, strong vocal and a terrific write! This is another that is new to me. Really enjoyed it, BA, you got the magic touch, musically!

Oh, man, this song is so much fun ---and quite the challenge for me. I liked what the original BiaB guy did, but... enough about me.

Dave, I've said this before, but you are my favorite guitarist, and what a treat it was when you met Chris. She is my favorite singer. Thanks so much for letting me play along.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hey Ron,

I'm not a big pedal guy, actually the cry baby is the only pedal I own. But yeah, great sound! I've used it on a few songs. As far as genre goes, we've dabbled in lots of different styles over the years. We did a Sea Shanty around the same time as Blu Line that I'll probably redo, it's a fun song.

Thanks for checking out the song and the kind words!

Hi Dave.
Great beat with Marty pumping along with the drums and Chris's vocal fits perfectly.
Nicely done.

Hi Dave!
While I normally prefer more chord movement, you guys are so tight with playing and singing, and all the one-percenters you’ve added, it has created a really infectious groove - I couldn’t stop moving my foot. Love the wah pedal, and Chris’ vocal and harmony fit so well. The line in the chorus featuring the word ‘city’ reminded me of Little River Band (original Aussie line-up) ‘It’s a long way there’ - reminded, not sounded like. Marty’s intro on bass teased we had something special coming.
Loved it!

For some of these songs Chris has wanted to redo the vocal, but I think often it's just because she wants to sing it again smile The sad thing about creating these songs the way we do is that once they are done we never get to play them again. But in this case I told her that what she had done back in 2018 was pure perfection, I kept the original vocal mix also; only thing I did different was use a different reverb plugin.

Thanks, Floyd!

Chris, Dave, and Marty, all I can say is WOW!
This is a masterpiece
Outstanding vocal and harmonies Chris
Another award winning bass track Marty
Polished off with Dave, one of the best guitarist on the planet
Together with the backing band, and the mix makes this the best you all have ever done IMHO.
Loved it

Chris and I were really prolific when we first started working together, she had all these lyric ideas looking for music and I had all these music ideas looking for lyrics. By the time we had done Blue Line back in 2018 we probably had close to 50 songs done. There are a few more from back then I'm going to redo before getting back to new material.

Thanks for the support over the years, Bob, very much appreciated!

Hi Andrew,

Yes, if there aren't many chords, only two in this case, you need to find other things to hold the listeners interest.

Little River Band! I remember them. I was in a band back in the early 80s and we covered their song "Happy Anniversary".

Thanks for taking time to listen and comment, I appreciate it.
