So, I've got a track, which started with an imported MIDI file created with Finale and Imported Melody from MIDI File. It's just a 4-measure guitar lick, going into a 5th and 6th measure with a new chord(it's for use in a blues). The file plays using a Hi-Q .mid sound, sounds great, with a blues Style added underneath it.
Highlight the track, choose Guitar Window, Track Type: Guitar, etc. Notation with Tablature underneath, top window is guitar neck with notes listed. When I Generate and Play Song, no highlight of notes being played, no moving line to show where we are in the notation while playing the track.
Clearly, I want to show the lick being played, hearing it over the rhythm section, and the ability to sight-read along with the notation or tablature, and make that a video to play along with. I'm on my 2nd strike. What to do?

I am not using it, got curious so I did a basic test.
Added some chords, dragged a bass midi file to one of the utility tracks, marked the utility track, opened the guitar window (frets) and selected the notation view and played it. It all played well both the midi and and chords and style and the notes from the selected midi track were highligted (color) in the notation window as well on the fret board as the song played along.

It seems to work fine for me. When I imported the midi to the melody track it seems to come in as default as a piano track (not a guitar track). So it shows the fret board with piano notation below. It plays ok and shows and follows the notes both on the fretboard and in the notation ok.
But if I want to see it in "guitar notation and guitar tab" I had to set the "track type" for the imported midi to "guitar". It is the "tool icon/gear icon" on the row underneath the fret board far right. It is the first option in the list.

When this happens, in the notation options, is "highlight notes in red" still showing selected?
Yes, I have that checked.
I also can't figure out why there is a label of "1a 1 Acoustic Piano" that I can't get rid of?
Let's also keep in mind that the notes are highlighted in red when played back in BIAB, but the Save as Video command doesn't show that.
This just falls deeper into the "this is broken" category.

Is the problem just that "make notation video thing?". I had specifically fixed that animated cursor in the video in the very recent past with an update of the VLT player. Just an idea.

Sorry, I got that wrong. should be the VLC Media Player - very popular free substitute for the MS Media Player that is better supported and more flexible. Just google it if needed. It does do the animated red note movement of the BIAB video.
I use VLC for pretty much everything, but I didn't understand what that would have to do with this. BIAB clearly doesn't save the video with the animated cursor. I opened the AVI file created by BIAB, and there is no animated cursor. I saved that file as a WMA file to upload to You Tube, and you can see the result above.
This is a PG Music problem. It's a feature that is supposed to work, and it *did* work before. Now it doesn't. Used to default to saving the file as video without fussing through alternate menus, and the video was plain to see without training the page, et al. I want to be able to see the notes and tablature while the file plays, otherwise there is no reason to have translator in the program. I'm losing money on not being able to get these lesson files to the students on time while I explore through the new interface how to do things that were previously easy.

Can you send me your file (the .mgu or sgu) and i will try a screen shot to illustrate it is working or not at my end. The thing is I just had what I think is the problem you are describing with taking a BIAB video of the notation window. At first it was all mis sized like you show and no automation when played. I updated the VLC drivers and things worked nicely.
I found my files from last month. Now tell me HOW do I export to a video??? Where is the button?? I know it is in one special place but I can't find it. If I find it I will upload.
OK, I seem to have confirmed - all works fine on the screen with view and automation of red cursor - but when you do the Video, the video looks good and plays but "No moving Red Cursor". What a surprize, right? I swear this was working last month. I will notify the developers to see if they can jump on this.

i've looked at VLC, but it doesn't look like there's an update available. I use GlarySoft, which usually updates any software needing updates. A scan from GlarySoft shows no available update for VLC.

I get exactly the same using your video file on my system as my files. No moving red cursor in the video. Oh, and by the way that is nice Robbin Ford lick indeed.
I can suggest on alternate route until PGM Support addresses this - Use screen capture software to directly capture the Notation Screen with working red cursor in a Screen Capture program and save the avi file. Flashback Express, for example, provides a free version which would do this nicely for 30 days and the students get their same .avi lesson file.
I just had a go at this out of curiosity. BIAB 2026 red highlights showing in notation window as normal and in the exported video. BIAB 2024 red highlights in notation window as normal but not showing in exported video.
Trying to make the notation any kind of realistic viewable size within the exported video was such an unbearable experience, I just had to give it up.
I just updated to 1237, checked the track settings, still no joy.
