Remember When

Remember when we had small jazz lounges? Even some hotels had them. Remember when the bartender would yell last call and I everyone would run to the bar to get one last drink? Then about 10 minutes later the band would play the last song, always a slow song. Well grab your significant other and dance to this last call slow song.

BiaB style - Jazz Ballard w/ Electric Piano
Tempo - 60 BPM

Bass - Ample Bass - Upright
Piano - Lounge Lizard - tine - Dream Line
Drums - RD from the style

I am quietly playing the rhythm guitar, my Jay Turser jazz box. Also via my breath and keyboard controllers the Swam tenor sax and trumpet.

That trumpet really stole the show for me. The piano was nice as well. Only a couple of times in my life was I in a late night scene like you described, but it was weird and cringy. As a result, I never became a lounge lizard. But you captured the scene well. Kudos.

You really caught the vibe of the last slow dance. Great instrumentation and Swaming again. I particular like those vibes and the trumpet. Very cool.

Mario,

There is no one better at creating these nostalgic jazz pieces. You capture the era, feel and tone of the music. Love the sax & trumpet. Amazing arrangement and mix.

Loved it!

Hi Mario!
My wife being a classic introvert, we don’t dance. But if we did, and this tune was playing, I’d be whispering sweet nothings in her ear, like “You’re the most beautiful here tonight” or “You make me want to be a better man”.

Nice one, Mario. Your played instruments sound especially vibrant and PRESENT tonight. The backing band is keeping it together nicely although, honestly, they'd have every reason to be dragging given the hour and length of the set. Well, they're probably going to an after hours club after this anyway. The night's not over until the sun is above the horizon...

Play on!

I feel her cheek next to mine, and wonder if i had too much to drink tonight. Her hair smells delicicious. I step on her shoeless toes and she doesn't complain. I wonder if she had too much to drink tonight. We leave without touching our last-calls on the table, wave goodbye to the band, and head home to find out.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanx Bob. Since my band was playing a lot on the weekends there were only a couple of times I went to a jazz lounge; most around here were only open on the weekends. Thus I was never a lounge lizard either. Yes, the Swam trumpet is the best sounding VSTi trumpet I have ever heard.

Thanx Andrew. Since I was playing in bands since I was a high school freshman I never learned how to dance, I was always on the bandstand. Thus when I slow dance with the wife I say "sorry" or "I didn't step on your toes on purpose"!

Thanx Ron. I haven't had "The night's not over until the sun is above the horizon" in a long long time. Today my midnight is around 10 o'clock!

Hey Mario.
I've been in a few myself, but I never was a dancer.
Winding down are the words for this and you are showing off your skills with it.

As is often the case, I don’t remember any of what you described because… well, you know.
But this is definitely a song I could easily imagine listening to while sitting in a hotel bar, having one last drink, and winding down the day.
I LOVE the saxophone - it’s really tastefully played [Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]
