Link: [*****] The [*****] [*****] (Before The [*****] [*****] [*****] You)

Preamble:
The last time the forum software censored one of my poetic outpourings beyond recognition, I was annoyed.
And angry.
But since then, I've grown up.
For this song, I declare everything that the forum software does to my lyrics to be art.
Part of the Gesamtkunstwerk.

The song:
The dark, depressing winter is over.
The flowers are beginning to bloom, the bees are back in town and busily collecting pollen.
Birds are singing in the trees.
A fly is sitting on the balcony railing, sunbathing.
Spring awakens.
So does the little punk in me who, together with my ever-present inner child, decides to write a song.
To quote one of my inspirations: "If you don't go over the top, you can't see what's on the other side"

Enjoy the suffering, and write something...

Title: [*****] The [*****] [*****] (Before The [*****] [*****] [*****] You)

(Verse)
[*****] the radio, they bleep all my lines
Cleaned-up versions with words that don't rhyme
Smile for the sponsors, pretend it's all fine
Rebellion [*****] up by content-warning signs

(Verse)
[*****] the rent, [*****] the debt, [*****] the clock on the wall
Kids go hungry while bankers have it all
Laws get rewritten for inequality’s sprawl
[*****] every [*****] getting rich from the fall

(Pre-Chorus)
We count our scars while they profit off wars
And laugh behind bulletproof glass

(Chorus)
[*****] the [*****] [*****] running the show
Spreading fear so critics lie low
Watching the poverty spill and grow
[*****] every [*****] who profits
From woe

(Verse)
[*****] the wars sold as freedom in pieces
Children learn drone names before they can walk
Hospitals bleed while the stock lines float
Wealth’s piling up while the hunger increases

(Verse)
Everything’s fine, just stay in your line
Count your likes while everyone strikes
There's nothing to worry, no need to be sorry
Relax in your bubble and enjoy the trouble

(Pre-Chorus)
But why the [*****] should I keep my mouth shut
And be treated like some [*****] mutt?

(Chorus)
[*****] the [*****] [*****] running the show
Spreading fear so critics lie low
Watching the poverty spill and grow
[*****] every [*****] who profits
From woe

(Bridge)
They tell us to wait, obey, and comply
And never question or simply ask "Why?"
Watch how they count their profits and lie
And toast to the chaos they multiply

(Chorus)
[*****] the [*****] [*****] running the show ([*****])
Spreading fear so critics lie low
Watching the poverty spill and grow ([*****])
[*****] every [*****] who profits
From woe

(Outro)
So, bleep this song and bleep its truth
Bleep the rage you can’t fully mute
[*****] you
[*****] you

B.D., energetic, passionate and brutally real. You flex a HUGE dynamic range here, and it all fits and flows perfectly. The (amazing) vocals do the whole whisper-to-a-scream thing perfectly, too. The mix is LOUD but perfectly articulate.

A very complex song to put together, I'm sure. For the listener, it's just a wild and thrilling ride.

Super job!

Hi BD!
Great heavy metal song about a topic that is getting everyone irate - it seems to be affecting the world over. I chuckled when I read that the drum RD is PraisWorshipUptempo. Uptempo indeed! The mix sounds really top class and a good choice of vocal.
Regarding the lyrics - there are plenty of rhymes in there! grin
I only watched the video once because I encountered Australia's new age-verification laws (unless it's YouTube responding to an 'adults only' setting?: I had to do a face verification online through a 3rd party private verification app after scanning the QR code that popped up - to prove my age. I wasn't sure, but I thought I saw a message pop up afterwards categorising me as 'weathered raisin'. smile
Don't get me wrong - I fully support this type of tech to ensure that young people don't see what they should be too young to view. Just wanted you to know that I jumped through hoops to have a pleasurable viewing and listening experience!

good song, GREAT message, the lip-sync was amazing! Funny, I thought we were supposed to have a revolution in 1970 and deal with all this *****. But it never happened. Very professional presentation, I wish somehow I could watch how you work and improve my own songs. That'll never happen either, of course.

GENIUS.
What?
GENIUS. This is pure GENIUS!
Ya think?
In this case I don't do 'think', I'm just saying fact. Everything about it is 100% first class. The lyrics, 100% relatable. The vocals OUTSTANDING! I gasp in awe. I only wish that I could get that perfect production quality, but first I'll need a new PC and a new address. I love all of your material, but for me this is the very best song yet.
PURE GENIUS.

You know I like this one, Brain. Fascinating how it developed. When i read the words i wondered how you were going to get them into a melody. But no surprise, you did amazing. What a terrific job from germ of an idea to this riveting production. Yep, Herb said it best.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hey Man,

You didn't answer my last question. Is that really you in the pic or is that AI?

smile

Now, on to the review. YouTube tube asked to take a photo ID of me or give a credit card number (you can't make this up) in order to watch this. There is no way on God's green earth I would ever do anything remotely close to that for any reason whatsoever.

So, sorry, I could not listen.

With regard to the lyrics, they seem pretty Dylan-eque other than the deleted words below which I can't read, but I am sure I can fill in the blanks.

I can see your point, but I don't think it is artistically necessary to use harsh language to make a point like this. Because you are telling the truth, in many ways, that truth often cuts harder and deeper with a purely poetic delivery instead of the "shock value" noise, in my opinion.

I also realize I am the lone voice outlier on the forum whenever this topic comes up, but I assume differences in opinion are allowed, and you don't have to agree with what everyone else says in order to stay "cool."

Maybe.

However, let me leave you with this, and I mean this with all sincerity: Down with the man, power to the people! Speak truth to power! Whatever Billie Eilish says! That's my view and I'm not backing down!

Music is a realm of innovation and freedom where musical choices and lyrics allow everyone to express themselves. It's up to the listener to listen or not. It's like humor: you can laugh at anything, but not with everyone.
Well done on your song and vidéo; it doesn't offend me at all, and it's done with great elegance.

That is a very good and appropriate comment, Laurent. It's the current regime that is shocking, not the song, and our natural reaction is to use foul language to express our dismay and distress. And the song does just that and wonderfully well. It is a lot different than using foul language to shock or just for the sake of using it to sound cool and trendy.

Thanks a ton, Ron smile

The making of the song was indeed very complex.
  • It started out as a Rap song (which is why there are so many rhymes), but I'm not Eminem and I never will be.
  • Then I switched to rock in 3/4 time, but halfway through I got stuck because it lacked the necessary rage. Back to the drawing board.
  • In the end, I decided on 4/4 because it allowed me to better implement the desired dynamic and tempo changes.

That was quite a ride...

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library.
