A song about restarting love. When granddaughter Charley (11) saw the first line of the lyrics, she said, “What's this? The Stalker's Anthem” Darn, I didn't think of that. So I changed some of the words, and in the Bridge I tried giving the unstalker explanation. Then for the video I had to make the characters more like cute little Pixar people. Did I tame it enough?

Outside Your House
Sitting in my car in the dark outside your house wondering if you meant what you said. It's been a while, I know, but you're still in my heart. Open your front door to life ahead .
Is today the day you let me in so the rest of our life may begin? Until I am in, I'll be here without sitting outside your house.
Once we were a thing but you felt there might be more. Today you say you still think of me. My heart still beats your name every second you're away. Turn the porch light on and you will see.
Earler today we met by chance and you were telling me how much you missed me since we split up, and I said I get off work at 9. I'll stop by and sit outside. If you want to try again just blink the light.
Ambling back and forth on the walk outside your house hoping that the porch light soon comes on when suddenly you're there with your come-hither stare inviting me to stay till dawn.
We now love to spend our days inside rekindling the fire once denied. The rest of our life we'll live side by side looking outside our house.

Your performance is excellent with a tough blues edge. Of course, Dave adds the perfect guitar to support everything. Big punchy mix - sounds great in my speakers.
The stalker discussion is hilarious! I think you remedied that. LOL!
I think the second line effectively quashes any stalker overtones. I always love Dave's guitar and it sounds great as usual here. The story is good and the happy ending is much appreciated after all the bad news of late. Sounds like your little lyric critic is a keeper, too. Good work, enjoyed it much.

Hey, Marty, why all the talk about stalking? Sting had a number one hit with "Every Breath You Take" that took jealousy and stalking to the top for nine weeks and no one complained! But that's clearly not what your song is about. Oh, and how about Daryl Hall's "Private Eyes"? Okay, aside from that, you've got the bluesy swagger down and it sounds terrific! Well, we just got our covid boosters again and the side effects are hitting me so I'm hitting the Ibuprofen. Very good to hear new songs from you! John
Good one Marty! Glad you cleared up the stalker vibes. With that removed, this settles into a wholesome love story. Solid music from you and Dave - his lead and your singing. Everything in its place.
I had to chuckle about the scene in the video where the young man is waiting outside for the light to go on - he appears to be doing the moonwalk at the end of the driveway!
Wow, this song is so much fun, Marty! Songwriting is clever, as usual, lyrics are memorable, instrumentation pops, production is crisp, and performances are just as bad-[*****] as ever.
Keep doing' it bro.

When I read your lyrics, it never occurred to me that you were stalking anyone - so everything's fine. It's always good to have a granddaughter at hand! When couples successfully give it another try, it makes for a great story (both in film and music), and you did a great job with that. Good listen, good band, good production. Enjoyed and smiled

Thanks, Bob. Yep, Charley is not only inspirational, but she's been my most honest critic since she was 4.

Thanks, Bob. Nope, Charley said the second line reinforces the notion. It wasn't until the woman in the story surreptitiously invited the guy over (maybe), that the "stalker" moniker wore off. Happy you liked the ending.

Thanks, Laurent. Yeah, i figured cute characters wouldn't encourage the stalker image.

Thanks, John. Those songs you mentioned can have harmless uses as well, but "Sitting outside your house" is much harder to mask. Stay safe, man.

Superb song every-which-way. Great vocals and Dave's guitar is always a treat. … Charley's comment brought up a smile!

Great listening and watching.

Thanks, Andrew. HAHA. so glad you saw that. I always like the wonkiness of Ai. That moonwalk is so much harder than all those guys in the 30s ever tried. This guy's illusion is not just going backwards while appearing to walk forward, he manages to move sideways while keeping his toes and heels straight. Yeah, i didn't even try it.

Great, energetic vocals. Nice band and much-better-than nice guitar fills/solo. Super mix.
When my brother writes a lyric like this, his spouse will often ask who it's about. "I just made it up" is met with a dubious glare...
Glad I don't write lyrics.
Thanks, Ron. Those video characters surely helped pull out the cute factor. Tell R.W. i know what he means. In my case, if i only write about my life, songs would be quite boring.

Fun song, Marty, thanks for the invite, and thanks to those that mentioned my bit.
Hehe. Thanks, Dave. At first my prompts were giving the usual 5-o'clock-shadow guy with creepy eyes lusting for the door to open. Life is sometimes better in cartoon form. You may remember the video version with an Ai me in it. Now, that was wonky alright.

Thanks, Floyd. Yeah, that line is less ambiguous in legalese.

Yea! A happy ending love song! Your vocal was great at creating the longing and hopefulness of the song’s fella. The video’s characters reminded Janice of Toy Story’s Woody and Jessie with their smiles. Cool!
As always, a strong band with great performances by you. And Dave’s guitar was icing on the cake.
Nice mix and, man, your bass cuts through perfectly. So many mixes are missing that.
Enjoyed it,

"Sitting in..." has trouble rising about the end of the intro. After that this a well mixed and arranged classic of the Straubs. Fab vocal, smooooooth bass holding things together and Dave doing his usual support/starring role. ACE

Got a chuckle from your granddaughters comments. Great song. Super vocal and lyric and love how the bass carries the groove. Dave's guitar work was excellent. Well done....
