Hi All, Our latest track on SoundCloud is a vignette called NEWPORT. Baby I’m wired the wrong way Maybe the summer shouldn’t come anymore Or possibly I’ve just been thinking About the windows, the floors and the doors I’ve got a room down by the beach But the sun doesn’t come out until noon It’s a little unnerving when the waves come And I never expect them so soon I guess I’ve been hiding in plain sight By the docks where they fish all day All the old men staring at the water Looking out over the Narragansett Bay Now the ferries come and go from Newport Like the day you slipped out with the tide And maybe the summer still finds you Somewhere on the other side I guess I’ve been hiding in plain sight By the docks where they fish all day All the old men staring at the water Looking out over the Narragansett Bay BIAB Tracks: 2718: Guitar, Nylon Fingerpicking 2799: Flute, Crooner Ballad Other Notes: Bob Mic: Logitech Blue Yeti Bob Vocals: Logic Pro Bob Piano: Vediya Digital Piano Joliz Mic: Audio Technica AT2020USB+ Joliz Vocals: GarageBand Waves Vocal Rider: All Vocals Pre-Production: Track Editing GarageBand & Logic Pro Izotope Nectar 3 Elements for Vocals Izotope Plasma for Instrument Tracks Processing Final Track Mix & Master: Logic Pro & Izotope Ozone 11 Video: Adobe Firefly, iMovie & Final Cut Pro As always - thanks for listening! Nice song with a minimalist backing that worked well. Crooner flute was cool. I thought it was going to be about the music festival, but you went a different direction. Great lyrics as always, enjoyed it.

A sparse arrangement, few words that tell a lot and inspire reflection. Not a flashy song, but one that slowly creeps under your skin. Excellent ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif)

Lovely song Bob and Joliz! Great vocals, and really liked the spoken word part. Also enjoyed your video. Only minor nit would be the ending, seemed a little abrupt to me.

So Good.
Y'all just keep putting out Great Music.
Joliz' BGVs really make this Pop.
Should have known you'd play piano, too. You never cease to impress and amaze...
Musicianship. For real.

Hi Bob and Joliz! I like the steady, pedestrian chording of the piano, with the nylon guitar almost dancing around it. That guitar was a good choice - has good melody phrases that add touches of colour to the backing. Good shift of the vocals into the chorus melody. One thing is for sure - one should always have Google Maps open at the ready for your songs! Now I know where Narragansett Bay and Newport RI are! Andrew

Gorgeous, Bob. Like eavesdropping on someone's most personal, private thoughts, but not in a creepy way at all. Super vocals by you and Joliz. Your voices mesh so well.
Love the backing track. Had to relisten to that BiaB guitar track in BiaB; it really is quite lovely. Your piano track pairs with it, well...as well and your voice with Joliz's. Makes for a shimmering stereo backdrop to the song. The BiaB flute lines fit perfectly as well.
Excellent, EXCELLENT work here. Loved it.

Hi Rob
A really well worked song and storyline, with a folk feel to it. I particularly like the use of the flute, it gave the song air and space. A beautiful gentle meander through Newport.
Kind regards

Dave,
Thanks - we always appreciate the kind words. On the ending, the SoundCloud version has a 2 second longer taper than the video. Sometimes that makes all the difference.

I enjoyed the YT version (a couple times) the other day. Usually i say SC's sound is so much better, but this song is too good to notice. I REALLY enjoyed the images in the video, but this song (like all the songs you two release) is one that is best heard with closed eyes and opened ears, Excellent lyrics and the song really rises to a heightened level of enjoyment when Joliz comes in.

This song has an experimental and dreamy quality with its use of echo on the vocals. It straddles the line between dream and reality. Well done. Laurent

That flute is a great choice. One usually doesn't get to hear a flute unless you're listening to Jethro Tull or Marshall Tucker.
Your lyrics are always outstanding.

Hi Bob and Joliz,
This is truly a beautiful song! I liked the guitar playing and how you both filled in the chorus. Sung together very beautifully! I read that almost everyone thought the flute was beautiful too.
And then my problem arose: I didn't have the same feeling. It sounded more like a recorder, and I'm not really a fan of those. Maybe no reverb was used, or too little? But do you understand my problem? I have never complained about (certain parts of) your songs. On the contrary, I think they are all great. And now I am the only one with a point of criticism regarding this instrument. A tricky situation, let's say. For me, anyway.
I could have said how beautiful the song is (which it is) and kept my mouth shut about that flute. But I didn't do that. But then again, I always want to be able to enjoy your songs...
Hans (no revenge, please!)

Wow, a fantastic song! Pure poetry again. When Joliz' vocals come in there's for me an almost ecstatic vibe - it's a beautiful harmony - and what a great paring you make! When I first saw the title I thought it might have been about the Newport folk festivals in the 60s, but this song deserves to zap back in time and be performed there! The instrumentation is excellent, too - though I'd liked to have hear more of that flute.
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.
