The Beach Boys meet Buddy Holly.
Not sure we can explain that ... but Janice felt it. smile

Great vocals and we much liked the bgv's Leslie effect.
You never disappoint with the mix and this is no exception.
We use Kali monitors with an 8" woofer and this tune rocked!

Cool lyric to the max - love the chorus "No ufo’s”
We're long time fans of "connect your own dots" lyrics and this is a fine one.

A hit!

Spot on the Wall started playing after this one, listened to that again while I was typing smile

Excellent!

THANK YOU, Dave. Truthfully, I curate the songs I post to focus on the ones I think will be enjoyed. So "catchy" and "unique" are among the qualities I'm using to screen songs. We've posted maybe 2% of our songs to date, so we have to do SOMETHING, right? Glad it worked for you!

I have a soft spot for "Spot on the Walll", a lyrics that took me WAY too long to appreciate, but is now one of my favorites.

A very cool and interesting song.

Your vocal sounds like a song I've often heard played on Coast to Coast radio. It's also about UFOs.

Nice rock feel.

THANKS, Marty! I write the music from his finished lyrics and don't change anything he's written. Well, much. smile Sometimes I'll recycle a line or verse or chorus or song title lyric when it serves the song. Sometimes I'll accidentally mis-sing a lyric. I always hear about THAT. Ouch!

Thank you, Mario! Crazy lyrics for sure, but much fun.

I've been interested in the subject for over 50 years and I've met one of the earliest British researchers into it who became cynical about the whole subject, but I've found over the years that there's oodles of fakery in books on the subject and also on popular TV shows. I now doubt that we've ever been visited by aliens - there are alternative perspectives on and explanations for valid sightings, etc - and the only semi-interesting idea one guy put forward is that a minority of sightings could be human time-travellers (tourists) from the future. I now just have one book on the subject, "The Field Guide to Extraterrestrials" which lists countless assumed contacts with ETs, but if every one of them was an actual alien then we're being visited by hundreds of alien species and that's just not possible. For a comic view on the theme I recommend Country Joe McDonald's less than 2 minute song "UFO". It's a hoot! But the important thing is that your song is an excellent hoot, too! laugh

Thank you, Chay! So, MY interpretation of the song works on two levels. First, it riffs on a speculative outcome of Area 51 becoming declassified and the public finding out aliens in flying saucers are a real thing. Second, it lampoons a few obvious co-conspirators in the alien narrative, notably the press. Or it could be gibberish.

I can see slender tendrils of connective tissue between the UFO story and the fantastic universe you've created and presented here as songs.

"UFO" is a hoot of a short song for sure. RIP Country Joe...

Hi Ron,

As always, another lovely song with incredibly clever lyrics and sung beautifully too, including with your backing choir.
My immediate question is, how did you come up with this idea? Was it after your president released those UFO files?
I haven't heard anything about it since then, except for your lovely song!
And I experienced the same thing as Dave. I was typing my message to you and then "Spot on the wall" followed, another lovely song.

I say: very well done, chapeau (meaning 'praise' here).

THANKS, Aurealius! Not saying I couldn't have channeled another vocalist, but don't think it was THIS one. It's a nice performance, but not remotely similar except for the subject.

But...who DOESN'T love a good UFO song???

Ha! That's funny, John. I often hear a new Weezer song and think we could have written that. River Cuomo is my kinda crazy.

Why, THANK YOU, Hans. As for inspiration, it's all my brother's concept, and he doesn't provide a lot of background me most of the time. Have noticed that he'll take an interesting snapshot or headline and extrapolate a whole story from it. So wouldn't surprise me if some news blurb about our "transparent" government was inspiration. Frankly, folks here have been WAY more interested in the Epstein files, or so it seems. But I personally find alien lore MUCH more interesting.

smile

Weird and catchy, I can imagine a movie about a college band sounding like this one singing about strange things but the people at the party would dance to it no matter the message - a way to deliver alien/government message to us, the mind controlling content hidden between the lines smile I enjoyed the hilarious machine gun crossword puzzle lyrics, although the reality is now more weird, UFOs have been replaced by drones and aliens by the ectoplasmic leaders. Great band, the mix is radio-friendly. The singing and the harmonies are perfect for this type of classic pop. Can't decide whether this is more pastiche-like, parodic or postmodern pop music...or pure fun, anyway, you two are genious songwriters who have drunk the magic potion!

"Weird and catchy!" I'm going to have T-shirts printed up. smile

Yeah, the real world is starting to catch up with the absurdity of pop culture lore, isn't it?

You should have been a powerpop star in the 80s. Clever and amusing lyrics. A good song to be on the X-Files soundtrack. Another catchy chorus in a superb production. Again, those BGVs are so delightful to my ears.

Ron,

This song is incredibly catchy.
The lyrics seem to be a reference to the upcoming release of UFO information soon in U.S.A.
The sound is a bit Beach Boys-esque.
The vocals are fantastic.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

THANKS, Scott. In my dreams, I *AM* a powerpop STAR back in the 1980s. Those were good times. But then I wake up...

Ha!

Thank you, Shigeki. Yes, I think my lyricist seized on that topic for inspiration. But then he took it to unexpected places, didn't he?

Now that you mention it, I MAY have been channeling some Mike Love on this one. Huh! I always loved to sing along to their stuff and they STILL are the template for vocal arrangements in my book of opinons. But I'm sure that they have influenced me in many ways that I don't even fully comprehend.

Appreciate the listen!
