Hi All, Here's something new from us called Come Back Home. The light stays low on the kitchen floor Like it’s tired of holding the day Your coffee cup’s got a crescent moon Where your lipstick used to stay The radio sings softly Some old tune about goodbye But it never says who leaves first Or who just lets it slide There’s a crack on the bedroom wall Like a river on a map We traced it once with careful hands Now we don’t do things like that You fold your sweaters for no season Stack them neat and tall Getting ready for a winter That might not come at all Come back home Even if you never left Come back home Before we both forget The screen door swings in the evening Letting in the moths and heat They throw themselves against the light To see what they can see Come back home Even if you never left Come back home Before we both forget BIAB Tracks: 2474: Bass, Acoustic, Held 2195: Piano, ElectricVintage 3059: Guitar, Acoustic, Muted 3064: Vocal Oohs, Rhythm RealDrums: CongasEv16 Other Notes: Bob Mic: Logitech Blue Yeti Bob Vocals: Logic Pro Bob Electric Guitar: Collings Ladybird Bob Guitar Amplifier: Vintone SimpleX 1x6 Joliz Mic: Audio Technica AT2020USB+ Joliz Vocals: GarageBand Waves Vocal Rider: All Vocals Pre-Production: Track Editing GarageBand & Logic Pro Izotope Nectar 3 Elements for Vocals Izotope Plasma for Instrument Tracks Processing Final Track Mix & Master: Logic Pro & Izotope Ozone 11 Video: Adobe Firefly, iMovie & Final Cut Pro As always - thanks for listening! My thing is lyrics, that's why I dig your music so much. I used to love the days of vinyl, where you could read the lyrics and liner notes on the album cover. This brings me back to those days. So many great lines here - the crack on the wall is one of my favorites. That guitar tone is perfect, too. Never knew Collings made electric guitars. Thanks for so much great material.

I always translate your songs because otherwise I would lose all the pleasure of their poetry and listening to them. Laurent

Hi Bob and Joliz! This song is really good. I love your choice of muted acoustic which acts in part to aid with the percussion; that fine e-piano and the vocal ooos sitting nicely underneath all. Is that you playing the solo on your Collings? If so, a really fitting tone and melody - so glad it came back several times!
The chorus title ‘Come back home’ - you sing it as a plea, which is what one would do in the story, so that’s a highlight of this song - I can hear it in my mind as I’m typing. It’s like the verses serve to remind the singer of all the things he’s missing and reminders of what they once had, as evidenced by all the things around, until the point where he can’t hold it in and he has to release his unrestrained plea: ‘Come back home!’.
This is your best as far as I’m concerned.
Andrew

Really great production Rob, well written lyrically as always. And then there’s the guitar solos, really sweet, great tone.
Top notch Rob.

Rob,
Thanks so much - very kind. We both appreciate that.
I still listen to music that way. I prefer vinyl records over everything else.
Yes, Collings has a whole line-up of electrics. The Ladybird is one of their newer models introduced last year.
Thanks again!
Bob

Gorgeous (again!), Bob. Such evocative lyrics, and cradled like a baby by you and Joliz. Love the backing track. REALLY love your axe work and how it reflects the mood of the narrator while not retracing the melody.
A bittersweet little notion wrapped in a great song.
Fantastic stuff.

Hey Bob, Man, I love this! Great song of course, I think that's all you know how to produce Excellent write, excellent vocals from you and Joliz. And super job on the guitar! I googled your Collings Ladybird guitar, never heard of that brand before. I have a Godin Montreal Premier that has a very similar look, used it on a bunch of songs.

Was away for a few days. Got the YT notice that you two have a new one. Saved it for today. SOunds great on these speakers. Man, you guys are branching out, but keeping those extraordinary qualities you always produce. Outstanding lyrics, the perfect band and mix, then add the very special sounds of your vocals.

Bob and Joliz, This is another outstanding masterpiece from you two. As usual great lyrics and vocals Super guitar chops Bob. Great arrangement, backing tracks, and mix. Loved it.
PS - I like the sound of that Collings Ladybird. Are you using flatwounds or did you replace them as I know some Ladybirds come with flatwounds. I'd love one but it is out of my price range.

Even before I began playing the song I was once again so impressed by the poetry in the lyrics. Just that 1st verse alone could be a short poem in its own right. (I've written a lot of minimalistic poetry, including haikus and what I call parahaikus, which are always 17 syllables, but not the 5-7-5 format). I also love the arrangement, particularly the guitar solo following the 1st chorus, then the quieter following verse. 2 choruses after that was exactly what it needed. Joliz' BVs as always completely complement your lead. Bizarrely, I awoke to a dream today, which was sort of semi-visual, semi-telepathic in which Joliz said something very positive to me about me, but also about yours and her attitude! I won't write what it was as I think you both symbolised another couple I know, or perhaps archetypal inner world contents. Whatever, it was great to wake up to some very positive words!
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

The radio sings softly Some old tune about goodbye But it never says who leaves first Or who just lets it slide I really enjoyed this tune! Guitar solo was simple and fits in perfect but my favorite thing is the lyrics and especially the verse quoted above. Very nicely done!

There you go with those lyrics again, Bob. For some reason it reminds me of Roxy Music's, Slave To Love. Very nice.

Dave,
Thanks so much from both of us - we truly appreciate it. Also, thanks for the nice words about the guitar work.
Your Godin is also a great guitar. I have looked at that one in the past. I saw Ruthie Foster, who is a great folk & blues artist use one in concert. Her tone was unbelievable!
