After reading the birthday greetings to MarioD (and I think he's fine at 80), it occurs to me how many long-term fine musicians and good souls are no longer here on these forums. The current forum software dates to summer 2000, and there was an earlier forum going back to 1995. That's over thirty years ago that some of us have interacted with each other. The user list shows many whom I know are no longer with us. These people were our friends, supporters, collaborators, and/or sources of inspiration. Many made substantial contributions to the PG Music family.
We can search profiles individually to examine the date of the last post, and that's a reasonably good clue, but there are exceptions. Russell Demussel for example simply announced his interests went in another direction (model planes, I think; some may remember him in connection to the infamous Ivan experiment here) but we cannot conclude anything about whether he is still around.
What would you think about creating some way to mark a profile that someone is no longer with us? Perhaps a reporting system that requires a confirmation from another user before a marking was placed? Nominate a candidate and create a poll to confirm or refute?

The post title naturally got my attention.
The idea is great. It would be good to know that forum members are OK but busy elsewhere, or to pay respect for those who might have passed on. I'm not sure what mechanism would work to ascertain the status. One thing that might be helpful is if the user list had an indicator to show those forum members who are known to be no longer with us. Mac obviously comes to mind as his brother Marshall recently conveyed that information.

Musocity/pipeline has been active in the Reaper fora as MusoBob, latest activity 5th April.
He seems as active as ever, but perhaps calmer after decoupling with the BiaB fora. He still posts lots of BiaB->Reaper stuff.

Like most of us on here I do think now and again, about those that have passed on who were on this forum. 1 Russell Demussel https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=803827&Searchpage=1&Main=105042&Words=Russell+Demussel+&Search=true#Post8038272 Ray Thigpen, wrote a mastering guide for Realband. 3 Mac I think its probably safe to say he is no longer here. 4 Don Gaynor a very inspirational man despite his health conditions. 5 Ed Buckley died fairly young I believe from a heart attack, I think I remember you saying Matt that both yourself and Ed exchanged a few messages and you seemed a bit shocked at the time, if I remember correctly that he died. I believe he was a bb Beta tester. 6 Wien Sam a real character died pretty young too., Based In Vienna I believe. John (Silvertones) I do remember he had a serious health condition but haven't seen him around for years, Maybe Pat Marr as he visited him, might have an update on him. Just thinking as well that though a few have met in person on the forum, most of us probably never do, but still isn't it Great that we have come to know each other thorough the Biab forum, and that in itself is something to be cherished I think. As most of us are no longer young Its a case of enjoying each day as it comes, and now and again think of the people we have come to know on the forum and who are no longer with us.

Thank you for that thread about Russell, and all of you for thoughtful comments. The thread illustrates that i knew about Russell and acknowledged it here, but had forgotten that. Usually i can be counted on to remember BIAB things from the past, but with age and a medical condition or two, there goes that assertion.
Eddie (from Ohio, also gone) raised a valuable thought in that thread: who will know to inform this forum when we die? I have instructions to my daughter and my executor how to login here and post. This is the only forum i have listed for them.
ps Yes, since Ed Buckley was a pro trumpet player, we had lots to chat about and many common musician friends. He was much younger than I am. Like all the other online friends who are gone from here, it was a sad time.

It's sad when we know we've lost one. But when they just disappear, it leaves me wondering. Did they quit using BiaB? Die? Lose interest in computers?
I remember Mac, who used to be the top poster. He was full of helpful information and wisdom. He just disappeared one day, and I agree, it's safe to say he is playing in the great gig in the sky.
I asked him a question, and the next day he was never heard from again.
Silvertones, Buckley, Thigpen and so many others since I joined here in the 1990s are gone. I guess, someday, I'll be missing in action, too. One never knows when his/her time will be up.
A list is a great idea.

I'll be 75 at the end of June and I never imagined I'd last this long with the way I lived my young Eddie life. Old Eddie has become responsible, conscious... ... His email and none of his phone numbers work anymore. He was one of the nicest people I ever knew, and I'd hate to hear that he passed on. And if he DID pass on, it's all your fault.

I think that with all that's happening in the world, and rather than thinking in years ahead its just good to Take One Day at a Time, and enjoy it the best we can.
Another little thought, sometimes we hear people say that BB is old Guys and Girls software, and if there is any truth at all that most users are in the older demographic, then I'm proud to include myself in that camp, and thank the PG Team and Peter Gannon for giving us this software, and the good community spirit in the forum.

A good idea, but as stated above, getting the info may be difficult in most cases. Should PG staff be included? Xtra Styles PAKs are styles that work with the UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, or Audiophile Edition of Band-in-a-Box® 2025 (or higher). Xtra Styles PAKs 1-21 includes 3,700 styles (and 35 MIDI styles)!
The XPro & Xtra Styles PAKs are not included in any Band-in-a-Box® package.

The Xtra Styles require the UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, or Audiophile Edition of Band-in-a-Box®. (Xtra Styles PAK 19 requires the 2025 or higher UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, or Audiophile Edition. They will not work with the Pro or MegaPAK version as they require the RealTracks included in the UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, or Audiophile Edition.
