I use a PC with Windows 11. After a recent update my songs are all going into a BB folder on OneDrive. It's not convenient as I can't easily see my recent history or quickly access my songs.

I'd like my songs to be stored on my C file with an option to back up toOneDrive.

Would appreciate, easiest route, step by step guide to sort. Thank you.

For all styles and demo songs BIAB will default to the proper folder with the directory which you have installed BIAB on. All current songs which are opened will save by default to the save folder that they were opened from. After that all new songs you save will prompt for the directory you choose.

So if you open a song stored on OneDrive it will default back to the OneDrive when you save. No changing that. But you can use Save-As instead of Save and place the song on a local drive. Or just transfer all the BIAB songs from OneDrive to a local folder and that will solve your problem for good. Pretty standard behavior, right? grin

I just create a new folder on the desktop, name it with the song title, and save all the files for that project in there. I also add sub folders as needed for things like stems or anything else. When the project is done and the dust has settled, I simply drag that folder to my D storage drive and into another folder which is named for the current year. That way, I can easily find what I want when I need to go back to it.

Something like that. If one is going to generate a large number of songs, gotta come up with an organized method that keeps them all straight. As the above post demonstrates, this is easy in BIAB.

I think the other answers may be missing the issue here; sorry if I'm wrong.

Windows 11 automatically assigns a number of areas to OneDrive ... forgive me that I can't presently remember exactly what.

I do know that "My Documents" from the file browser side-bar goes to OneDrive, and I suspect the desktop, music and videos also all do.

I think that the BiaB Songs folder (default C:/bb/Song) probably does not.

I suspect that you're saving your songs to somewhere that Windows11 automatically assigns to OneDrive.

I realised this when I found that I had two different folders for something that appeared to have the same name, but one of them was in OneDrive. Again I can't remember for certain exactly what, but I suspect it was C:/users/gordon/Documents and C:/users/gordon/OneDrive/Documents.

Hopefully that will give some clues.

FYI, one reason I can't remember is that I turned off OneDrive and remapped the shortcuts, though the remapping is a bit suspect ... not every application honours it. I keep my own songs in C:/bb/Songs/Gordon/ and then a hierarchy mostly based on A...Z.

Man, I have fought that so many times Go over to someone's place, listen to a song, they go to make me a copy and .. 'so where is it?'
OP would benefit from heeding the above and organize a file structure that suits you.
I personally wouldn't choose Desktop, but whatever works for you

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

My workflow is like Herb's workflow. The only difference is that the folder that I save my files on is on my D drive; I save directly to the D drive, not to my desktop. I use the same current year method also.

OK, a random thought;

My biggest problem is that I sometimes forget to save the Cakewalk Sonar file into that folder and it's often the file I need. Fortunately, Sonar saves all of it's files in the same default location so I can usually find it quickly and then drag it into the project folder.

But yeah, an organized method that works for you is definitely a huge plus.
