The "Soloists" folder under the bb folder uses 19GB of space.

I would like to recover that space if possible.
(I would leave the folder, but move the files to another drive in case I ever change my mind)

It is made up entirely of .ST2 and .XT2 files.

WHEN are these files used. Are they only used if you select the Soloist menu??? - I never do that.

When I need solos, I simply load an RT (a soloist RT).
Are the files in the Soloist Folder involved then? (or only if you select the Soloist Menu item?)

Hello,

We recommend only having the RealTracks and Drums folders in a separate location from the main program.

Thank you!

Hi floyd.

As far as I'm aware, the soloist folder is required and it needs to be in the \bb folder. I don't know this for certain, but my reasoning is that the ST2 and XT2 files in that folder are the files that map Realtracks and tell the program where in the Realtrack C chords, G7 chords, etc., are located so that a Realtrack can be diced and spliced to create a track that follows the chord progression on the chordsheet.

The thread below is an earlier discussion on this topic. In this thread, mention is made of software that can be used to redirect a path. I don't know if that works or not.

I also have a vague recollection that someone from PG Music also once responded to post and said that the Soloist folder couldn't be moved. I tried to find the post but couldn't.

P.S. I've just had a look at the link in BD's post. The message from Andrew is the post that I had that above vague recollection about.

This all would make a good Tips and Tricks post: Where can BIAB files be, and where can they not be? What can be moved? Deleted?

I’m thinking at least of installations not allowed into either /Program Files folder in Windows, plus this question.

For several years I’ve been interested in understanding more about BIAB file housekeeping. Several outstanding questions.
