Harris. The titular 'Sue' refers to actress and talent agent Sue Carol. Popular versions in 1928 were by Earl Burtnett (vocal by the Biltmore Trio) and by Ben Pollack (vocal by Franklyn Baur). It has become a popular jazz standard, with versions recorded by many artists. It's also widely popular among jug bands. In my version I sing and play guitar, mandolins (Napolitan & Octave) and banjos (Tenor & Plectrum). I produced this at my home with Band in a Box and Reaper. ****** Song Summary ************* Key=G , Tempo 160, Length (m:s)=2:45 Style is _BIGEASY.STY (Big Easy New Orleans Old and New) RealTracks used: RealTracks in style: ~~1618:Tuba, DixielandFast Sw 165 RealTracks in style: 2165:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm NewOrleansSwinginPop Sw 130 RealDrums in style:NewOrleansShuffle^04-a:Kick Shuffle , b:Ride, Shuffle + melody Vibraphone

Hi Esa! I’m not sure I’ve heard this song before, but it has such a likeable melody, I feel like I have. Good choice of backing band and your own playing. It sounds like there’s some clipping (or something) on the s’s of ‘Sweet Sue’ on your vocal. I’m not sure whether limiting, de-essing or automation is best for this - others with more tech know-how will suggest what’s best. Anyhow, a really likeable song and I’m glad you brought it back for us. Andrew

Thanks, Andrew. I've tried de-essing etc for these troublesome s's, but I'll check this one again.

Another song that I am familiar. Don't worry about the ssss in Sweet Sue. IMHO it would sound worse if you over did the de-sing. I would leave it as is. Agai just my opinion. You did a great job on this one.
OK, a random thought; Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

You are definitely my go-to guy when the discussion turns to the old classics, Arri. [Is Arri not your name? --referring to the salutaion of Andrew.] This is another gem from your vast catalogue. I always enjoy how you surround the vocal with such interesting instruments, especially those you play yourself. Fine arrangement, Esa.

Thanks, Marty. My producer name Arri comes from arrangement, because I like most to make new arrangements of old songs with BiaB and Reaper. Finnish musicians shorten it to "arri". My real name is Esa Blomberg. Esa comes from Bible name Esaja, first son. My account name Brno comes from my old nick name Bruno.

I want to be respectful, and I know people’s names are important. Andrew

I agree: names are important, Andrew (and not Andy, I presume). Just call me Brno, that's my artist name.
