I know nothing about the iPad and I haven't used Apple "stuff" in the past, but does anyone know if BIAB will fit on some configuration of the new iPad? I'm sure this is probably a ridiculous question (and has probably already been discussed in another thread).

Thanks in advance,
cchallum

Also wondering if the iPad will function like the Music Pad Pro. I have about 4,000 lead sheets in my Music Pad Pro. Later, Ray

I see Acer has a cube that goes on the back of a monitor. I'd like to see that in action with biab on a touchscreen. I use 2 stands, one for the keyboard and the other for the monitor, mouse, Ketron SD2 and other stuff. It would be much easier to use a sturdy music stand and put a whole PC with touchscreen on it somehow. hm...

BIAB runs on Mac OS X and Windows Systems. iPad comes with its own Apple OS allready running on the iPhone (OS 3.xx).
This OS can't run code designd for Mac OS or Windows machines.

PGMusic has to publish a special BIAB App-Version in Apples App-Store. Would be nice, but iPad is limited by its 1 Ghz ARM-Prozessor , only 256 MB Ram and the missing filesystem. So, I don't think BIAB would be usefull on an iPad.

Try running BIAB on a touchscreen netbook like ASUS eepc T101 or a touchscreen all-in-one PC.

I'd like to know this also, if you saved all your BIAB leadsheets in PDF format, could you view them on your iPad? Perhaps as a setlist, being able to change the order of PDFs? These are the things that would help many users now, as BIAB isn't ready for the iPad, or vice versa.....

my cockney granny used to say "let yer eyes be yer guide n yer money
the last thing yer part with".
sage advice imho in this era of lots of new product introductions.
and where products get obsolete over short time spans.

i dont want to be a downer on people who are excited by these
types of products, but my concern is obsolescence,
and service plus i dont think these types of products have the
processing power "oomph" for serious daw work.
i agree with you ralf in this regard.
there will prolly be a mark 2 version i suspect and various follow on versions.
the problem also i have with these types of products ,
and its the same reason i wont buy control surfaces that some people
use to control their daw software is there is often custom
technology in such. so if it goes on the fritz it has to be sent away
for service. eg custom smt/vlsi technology.
its not like on my pc whereby if a power supply fails i can just
be up and running in half an hour after visiting my local puter store for a new supply.
thus my concern is service also.

I have been using BandMaster on my iPhone and it just came out for the iPad, too. I am pretty happy with it. Sound is great, but way fewer options as of yet. Devs are pretty serious about it though and respond well to enhancement requests.

I heard that the filing system on the iPad is not as good as the Music Pad Pro. Guess I'll stick with my MPP. Later, Ray

Very well put Manning1. Something popped into my head last night about the ipad. Apple came out with the Mac Air laptop a couple of years ago I think. Why not just turn that into a tablet Mac or something. I'm not a Mac user but I'm sure many Mac fans would have jump on that idea. I'm sure price had something to do with it.

My wife saw the ads for that Ipad gizmo on TV last night and almost bought me one. I told her to hang on to the cash for now, I'm not sure I'm happy to give up where I'm at for that.

Of course given a deep well and loads of cash there'd be one beside me now. Prudence says wait. New processor, a really good sound card, and band in a box fully ported, it's a no brainer. Almost a must have..

As the that happening I'm thinking of a snow in July in Miami. It happens here, but not there. LOL.
