About the software TC Helicon -
It is present in PT 12 (12) and BIAB 2010.
Is TC in BIAB 2010 a revised or upgraded version which could have improvements
over the PT 12 version which might not be noticeable graphically
but work with better accuracy?
Or are they the same beast?

TC Helicon is in Biab 2010? If that's the case I won't have to buy PT. The only reason I was going to buy PT was for the TC Helicon. If this is true someone chime in on this.............Thanks

TC-Helicon is in BIAB, but remember, there is only one audio track in BIAB, and using TC-Helicon there (if I remember correctly) is only for the whole song. In RealBand or PTPA, you can highlight a section of audio and just do harmonies for the selected audio. If you buy PT 12, then you can also use TC-Helicon in RealBand, as well. But, it's up to you.

It's possible to apply TC Helicon to part of a song in BIAB but it's much to easier to work with in Realband. In BIAB, the choice is to write harmony directly to the vocal track or to write individual harmony tracks to hard disk. I used to choose to have the harmony written to hard disk. I then loaded those harmony tracks into RB or Sonar and mixed them. In RB, TC Helicon harmony tracks can be written directly to RB tracks: this makes for easier mixing.
Also food for thought is that BIAB only allows a single vocal to be recorded and then TCH is applied to that vocal. What I used to do was to record my vocal in Sonar where I could do multiple tracks. I then cut and pasted parts from those tracks to assemble the best possible sounding vocal. I would then loaded this final vocal into BIAB and applied TCH. RB makes it possible to do the above without leaving the program.
While I could do everything I needed with BIAB/TCH, it is certainly easier to use in RB. I'm pleased that I spent the $50 to get Powertracks (12) and have RCH in RB.
Critter, what I suggest is that you play around with TC Helicon in BIAB see if you can make it do what you want it to. It may well be that in BIAB it will do everything you need.

This is an opinion, after using TC in both Biab & PT over several years now. I have found the TC in Biab renders a cleaner harm(s). It may be my set up, dunno? But, Biab has always given me better TC Harm(s). I usually render the whole enchilada to separate harm tracks and then do a final mixdown in PT or RB. Just an opinion, but thats my story and I am sticking to it !!

Just wondering if you have only one audio track in biab and using the TC-helicon how do you put the harmonies on different tracks?

Hi Paddy,
On the screen that pops up when you click the TC Helicon icon, there's a check box that, when enabled, will output the harmony to individual tracks. The check box that I'm talking about is midway down the right column of options.
I don't know if you've discovered this one or not but under Help >> Tutorials, Tutorial #14 is on audio harmonies. I found this tutorial very useful.

Thanks for that Noel. I had a play around with it last night and TC does indeed do as you have stated, will put the harmonies on differect tracks (even within biab in a temp folder) which can then be imported into a sequencer for mixing.
