Hi Folks, I thought I would post a short list of apps I found at the apple Store for the iPod Touch and new iPad. If you haven't checked these out, you are in for a treat! You can do a search in the apple iTunes store for more info on these, I'm just giving a brief description. I'm also trying to encourage PG music to develop apps, as an iPad version of Band in a Box would be killer! Enjoy> 1. forscore>This app is basically a pdf score reader with a built in Metronome. Unlike many similar apps, you can add your own music pdfs to this. $2.99, compare this with the $800 musicpad pro. Yes, the iPad isn't as big, but other then that, it's great.
2. Mypiano Lessons>As the title says, it is a FREE piano learning app. Plenty of good screenshots, good reviews.
3. Jampad>Another FREE app, you get 4 realtime instruments to jam with.
4. Entrakment>The first real DAW controller for iPad. Reviews are good. You do need a Mac to use it! $2.99
5. MxNM LE>This is a complete Touchscreen Control Midi Surface that works over wifi. It looks awesome! $2.99
6. Sonoma Studio Track>This is a DAW for the iPad, you can download your project via Wifi to your main computer DAW. Includes effects, Mic, etc. $39.99
7. Sheets>Similar to forscore, contains over 1000 classical piano pieces. $2.99
8. Pianist Pro>A very slick looking Piano app, sounds good and easy to use. $9.99
9. Karajan Pro Music & Ear Trainer. A good looking app for music training. $9.99
10. Wivi Band 15 in 1>This amazing app lets you play Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, a total of 12 instruments. It was $10, now $. 99!!!!!
For all you doubters out there, just remember that Band in a Box was considered a "Toy" when it first came out. Give these devices and apps a little time to develop and I'm sure you'll see that this is going to be a fantastic portable music powerhouse. Ed

Doubters? Ed, you can't be serious. What it "might become" is not relevant when you're buying it for $500 now. And what do they have now? The most expensive app that you listed is $40. Maybe it's pretty good, but how does it measure up to their PC and regular Mac competitors, like PowerTracks and GarageBand? The WIVI app, for example, is more or less their demo program and is vastly inferior to the real version. There's no way that Wallander Instruments is going to virtually give away their expensive main product to Apple iPad and iPhone users. By the time these things mature, their competitors will probably be way ahead of them in other ways.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the iPad. It's an interesting idea and maybe it will one day be seen as revolutionary. But for right now, it just looks like a lot of hype. And if it ever gets as good as you say, I don't think anyone will be penalized much for not being an early adopter.
I'll wait and use what I have. Besides, I don't know why, but the iPad just doesn't appeal to me at all. I saw it Friday at Best Buy and I walked right on by.
