Hi all This is my first original song (lyrics found on the web though). The basic style is "12-8 piano" 65bpm, and a mix of other RT's. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=978581Be warned it's a love song in minor :-) Would appreciate your comments - on the mix/Mastering and all the rest of it - good as bad Thanks Jan

Jan, The first thing that I noticed is the over processed vocal, AutoTune? Other then that, this is a well written and produced song. The backing sounds fantastic, along with the lyrics. The B3 really shines in this one, IMO. Practice singing along with the tuned vocal a few times and take another shot at the vocal. Your voice sounds very nice and I know you can sing this without any Auto Tune assistance. I really enjoyed your song. You are very gifted my friend. I hope you are not offended, cause I believe you could cut the vocal and have it be in tune without assistance. Trax

Hi Jan, Wow! I really like what you've done. Musicality shines through in this work. You have an excellent timbre to your voice and, like Musictrax, I'd really like to hear your voice sounding much cleaner and less processed. I also think that the vocals could be brought a little more forward in the mix. Nice one Noel

Hi Jan Romanoff, What a wonderful 1st attempt. You have the gift. I agree with Muzic Trax and Noel96 that you do not need to hide your vocals (unless that was what you intended - sounds like a male Cher ) Just keep writing those songs because - to me - you have a wonderful voice. As to the mix, I think that is OK. Best regards michee

I like it very much (although at some part the organ is not playing "on tune"-wrong chord?). Nice melody, nice singing...Carry on.. One question: where does the 12/8 piano style comes from(which style disk)?? I do not seem to have it (Anger...)

Trax, Noel, Michee, Bernard thanks for comments, appreciate it. Was it that clear - the vocal processing , thanks for letting me know. I do have a challenge with my vocal. Trax I may follow your advice, singing along with the processed track. Noel, I agree the vocal could have been brought forward a bit, but for reasons discussed above I tend to do the opposite. Glad you liked the style mix. Bernard this style is RT set 70 - Piano Pop. Some nice pianos. Thanks again Jan

Ditto to what Trax said, plus I'll also add I really like this song, I mean everything about it. I'd love to cover it on some of my gigs.
Congratulations on a very good song.

Jan, that's a haunting piece and extremely good if it's a first attempt! The melody and chord changes reminded me of the opening lines "What have I got to do to make you love me", etc. in Elton John's "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word". There are some notes 'outside' the scale here and there and I'm not sure about the overall rhythm - something felt slightly wrong to me. Apart from that it's a strong song. Now, your voice. Your posts tell me that you have a poor opinion of your voice and like others who think the same about their vocal sound/abilities you have treated the vox track(s) not so much to enhance things but to attempt some sort of disguise. The stark truth that immediately jumped out of the song was that your voice has an extremely attractive and commercial timbre and you can sing perfectly in tune. As you can see from the other responses above, it's not just me saying this! Please now take that on board and let's hear some more of your singing pretty soon! John

Excellent song.
I agree with the others about your vocal. I don't think you need any help in that area, just sing.

Hi Jan. Unlike the others I like the vox. There are many hit songs using that style. Cher comes to mind, not to mention, others who I can't think of at the moment. What I would have done is use this for certain areas. Again Cher comes to mind where she used that sound in parts of her choruses. I detected the bass being off by a ½ a note in the beginning. If you created this song in BIAB then chances are it was jazzed up. Sometimes this throws notes off when doing songs in minors. Probably made the organ go off key for just a second. Try jazzing the song down and see if this doesn't eliminate the errors. Other than that it's a 1st class song. Good on ya Mate.
