It's the Talk of the Town is an old standard. I’m getting bolder with my EWI-USB as I played the lead on this one using it with minimal midi editing. My guitar part is a little different than my usual stuff.

I hope you enjoy this one.

Hey Mario,

Nice job! I'm very curious how you have your EWI setup, as I just got more into it lately. I am having issues with creating vibrato, getting the settings to load in the Aria player, etc. Any other EWI USB tips you might have would be great also.

Thanks,
Ed

Great chops per usual.

Found this YouTube that tells what the EWI is all about.

Hi Ed, I’m no expert on the EWI but here is my EWI configuration:
Breath gain – 18
Bite gain – 71
Bite AC gain – 63
Pitch Bend Gain – 65
Key Delay – 7

Midi Channel – 1
Transpose – 0=C
Fingering – EVI valve 1

Breath CC1- 2 Breath controller (course)
Breath CC2 – 22
Bite CC1 – 126 pitchbend up-down
Bite CC2 – off
Velocity – Dynamic
Pitchbend up control - Pitchbend up
Pitchbend down control – pitchbend down

Initially I had a problem with vibrato also. I googled it and found that some EWIs were having a problem. Following some Internet instructions (sorry, It’s been over a year and I can’t remember the site) I took off the mouthpiece and separated the two metal strips that control vibrato. That solved my problem. Well that was the mechanical part of the problem, now it’s me that is the problem

Also you set and save your EWI settings in the Akai EWI USB program. If you save them there they will automatically show up in the Aria Player.

I hope this helps.

That was really sweet Mario, I loved both the sax and the guitar. I'll have a martini.

Hi, I know this old song very well! That's a lovely version you've done there. Feels great! I have just poured myself another glass of port.. if only I had a decent cigar to go with it! I particularly like your guitar work but it all has a good feel.

Yours sincerely,

Frank

Hey Mario,

I thoroughly enjoyed this song. I even have a bruise to prove it. I was sitting in front of my computer, eyes closed and just letting the imagery float around inside my head while rocking back and forth. I'm not sure what happened. The next thing I knew was that I was on the floor. You're an outstanding musician. There's some absolutely incredible-sounding guitar playing in there. Also, you've really nailed using the EWI.

Stunning work,
Noel

Mario. What can I say that hasn't been said. Geat, relaxing. Has a great night club sound to it. Kind of the blues with some jazzy notes. Good on ya Mate. But ... ya gotta get the endings to work better. It's too abrupt. The new version of BIAB/Real Band have gotten that taken care of. The RI's sustain very well now. Great job on the song.

Thanx all for listening and the very kind words.

Noel – I hope you didn’t get hurt! Thanx for the guitar playing comment. No I haven’t got the EWI down yet. That may take another year or two.

Russ – This song started out in the latest BiaB, but I agree about the too abrupt ending. I did want this to have a lounge type of feel so I guess I succeeded.

Jim and toucher – thanx for the kind review.

Loved that genre! I don't know much about the EWI. But, I particularly liked the the nice tone used on the guitar. This kind of Jazz is a lot of fun to play, huh?! I can picture myself jamming alongside you on this stuff.

The only thing I would do different is give it one of those traditional jazz genre endings of a funky type of b5#9bb11+13 chord or something with the piano rumbling the chord while the drum rolls on the toms and you run through a nice scale on either the guitar or sax.

Just a thought!

Cheers!

Thanx RickeG. That genre is one of my favorites also. I played a lot of that kind of music in the late 60s early 70s.

If you want to do a collaboration sometime just leave me a PM.

Thanks Mario, I most definitely will. Presently, time is very limited for me. When a slower season pops up I would definitely like to do some two part guitar work with you.
