Lately we have been hearing about the algorithmic fiasco on thursday. I WAS curious why band in the box hastn't developed the capacities to determine passing tones, neighbor notes, escape tones, cambiatas ect. Is analyzing motion and detecting it into a group a difficult thing to code? Like if I loaded in Mozart and I wanted to practice some cambiata phrases it would be nice to get these to jump out at me. Is there a setting that will let biab do this?

I used DR T's KCS before I understood anything about sequencers. but the level 2 part never paved the technical implementation in terms of musical processes. Is this stuff really that hard to code. On the Atari St they had algorithmic composers but it seems Biab is he only one left. There is an interesting article in DR Dobbs April 2007 by John Bates.

Don't you just pull out the Mozart score and figure that part out? The wife and I do that all the time, sometimes I use a creative passage on her, she likes the crescendo parts. Starting out at pp in a major scale, moving to a pentatonic sequence, and heading to ff in a minor way, and back to the tonic with sffz makes for a great conclusion. It is draining but worth it in the end.

As to the study of movement I far prefer Bach to Mozart, especially the interpretations of Gould in his early recordings. The French Suites are particularly interesting in their fugal best. Partitas aside, the tempos Gould introduced can be effective in emotional stimulation.

As to Band and a Box and algo rhythmic terms, the best thing to happen is the ability to jam with Oliver Gannon on guitar and Terry Clarke on drums, with Neil Swanson on bass, and making your own quartet with those dudes laying down the backing groove.

Now that my groove is back, the wife is happy, and we tour about in our mini in a minor way, pushing the tach and trying to interpret the GPS. More fun than a barrel of simians.

I'd get on the horn or phone if you don't have a French Horn, to Dr. Gannon forth with, yer onto something. Maybe we can use Band in a Box to plug the leak in the Gulf of Florida/Texas, I can't believe the call it the Gulf of Mehiko. Most of the H two Oh comes from yer Miss a Sippy. Therefore it should be the Miss a sippy gulf, n'est ce pas?

Yes Working the harmonies out is enjoyable. I was just thinking it would speed things up a bit if you could specify these types of harmonic interchanges. I love Biab I have used it for many years and even bought their omni pack. They really do care about music. Where I live they only offer a classical music program and the students seem to only know the music their teachers give to them. They can't even recognize standards. So I am trying to expand horizons in a wide variety of musical directions.
