Updgraded from a 2001 Win ME pc to a Win 7 - and when I record new BIAB tunes - the sound is VERY different... guitars are way louder, and the overall tone sounds thin (more treble/less bass) when played live at a gig... is this due to the difference in sound cards? I got this new PC mainly to improve the BIAB sound/speed - but so far I like my old sound better.... Do I need to re-record all my BIAB files on the new PC and make the necessary adjustments?

Probably. Assuming you are all MIDI and GM, your new sound card is going to be different, probably better. Also, what do you use for the synth sound source - MS wave table, sound card set, VSC DXi, ...? Is that the same as before?
One idea is to change your sound source. Maybe you will find one that sounds like the good ol' days.
Another idea (but get some real advice from others) is to figure out what you need to do to alter one tune to you liking with your new system. Then by using Options/Preferences/MIDI Options, press Channels, and change each track's parameters to suit, and save. Then, maybe, when you load in the next tune and play it with your new settings, it will be to your liking.

Could you tell us what old sound card device was in your old computer, and what sound device is in your new computer? Could you also tell us if you're using onboard MIDI, or that?
It really will help us to help you.

dm, this won't help you but I can relate to what you're saying. My old Dell xps from that era had a yamaha xg mixer built in - integrated soundcard no less - but it sounded great - head and shoulders above the tinny sounding realtec high definition (yeah right) which I disabled and went to my EMU.

If you have the usual RealTek soundcard the sounds can be improved by entering the RT sound menu and adjusting the Playback and Recording features which many people seem to miss

Being a different computer - soundcard and operating system which processes audio differently and faster then you probably will have to re-record your songs again, but first of all it is best to get the best quality of sound possible by doing the following -
Go to - Control Panel > Sound > on the Playback tab > double click on your default/chosen Playback device - (probably Speakers) > go through each sub-tab and experiment/adjust to your preference and then do the same on the Recording tab (probably Stereo Mix)
Or go to - Control Panel > RealTek HD Audio Manager and do the same
You can also Right click whilst highlighting the above Playback and Recording device
I have come across many customers who are unaware of these adjustments as they are not obvious - but make a lot of improvement can be made with the adjustment to - Configure - Environment - Settings - Playback and Recording bit quality etc
Use VSC DXi or Coyote Forte on a 32 bit system and Coyote Forte or CoyoteWT on 64 bit systems to get the best sounds without spending too much
I also use X-fi Xtreme soundcard but quite happy to use the above when adjusted - OE soundcards now seem to be transporters of sound and not onboard sounds although RealTek identifies the Roland GS/GM Sound Canvas as it's sound set
