While composing a song using BGFDM_F Driving Bluegrass style, got the following message;
'Access violation at address 0040328B in module 'bbw.exe' Read of address 0F90A388 at 0040328B'
Has anyone else had this problem?

We've all that Access violation message. It could be a whole bunch of anything. The numbers are just memory locations, and apply only to your computer, insofar as I can tell.
Can you give us a little more information on what you were doing when this happened. Also, details on your computer, i.e., CPU, Memory, Hard Drive space, OS, what other programs were running, including Anti Virus, antispyware, and other Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) programs you may have running.

Absolutely nothing else was running. Running Windows Vista,300 gb hard drive,4gb ram, dual 2.66GHz processors.
Just trying to play the composition. Getting this error with several other styles as well.

I used to get an error like that regularly. I turned off the UAC (User Account Control - found in Control Panel under Users) in Vista and that fixed it. That might be worth trying if you haven't done so already.

Which exact version and build of Band-in-a-Box are you using, and are you able to duplicate that problem with a specific song or style?

I bought a new video card with Windows 7 drivers and the errors stopped. I had these Access violation in module BBW. exe or RealBand.exe screen freezing errors in BIAB 2010 since installing a clean Windows 7 64-bit. Very frustrating indeed. good luck.

As well as turning of the UAC run BIAB and RB in Admin mode.This has been a common complaint however one of the updates of the 2010 version fixed these issues. Are you up to date with 299? If not they probably will persist on 64Bit

I have not seen any access violations on my Dell XPS i7 920 Vista 64bit from BIAB since the last couple of updates as I recall.

That's correct. There was a specific fix for the Win 7 /64 issue.
