Hello to everyone out there...
I have just taken the dive and purchased the Everything Pak (I took a deep breath and closed both eyes)...after lurking/researching PG Music, it was obvious that I simply had to have it all (or nearly all of it)...a lifetime purchase for sure...no regrets.
A smidge about me: Nearing 40 (don't laugh), and have been playing guitar since I was 12...started to make recordings back in '92 with an old Tascam 424 4trk analog cassette recorder (yeah, you can laugh now if you want...I am)...and a Roland DR-660 drum machine (which I still have today incidentally).
My, my, how far the technology has evolved...around 1999 or so, I bought Roland's flagship digital 16 trk portable studio VS1680...and that had dominated for many years.
2 years ago, I broke down and bought Mackie's Tracktion 3 DAW for PC based recording...which again, smoked the Roland in use and versatility...(it humbly functions as an outboard mixer these days...forlorn looking thing).
Now, after a few years of getting my fingers trained on Yamaha's Motif XS, I find myself really expanding and wanting to achieve so much more.
Aside from the near infinite possibilities of BB, it was the built in notation that got me. The ability to print and share music with others was a HUGE plus on top of everthing else it offered.
Maybe I can even get published one day (I have hopes for writing really great Contemporary Praise and Worship music)...
All, in all, I hope that BB can become yet another valuable tool in the music shed to help me with my budding compositional and arrangement skills.
I really, really look forward to using it to the fullest.
For now, I have read the manual twice through, and I'm working on a 3rd time...and I have barely begun to dabble with any real direction...but I'll get there...I'm not that old yet (busy as all get out though...family and the rest of it)...it's tough. Forum is great, and the FAQ's and tutorials are helping too.
I shall leave with one question regarding 3/4 time:
I have a few rockin' tunes that fall into this meter, and perhaps 6/4...
Not quite sure how to get this to work, since most styles are 4/4 straight or swung triplets.
Seems one can choose the meter in bar properties...but to carry it all the way through, not sure.
This post is way too long, and I'm hungry.
Thanks all...hope to be back off and on as I continue to get more gray and confused.
Regards, Eric JOHN 10:10

Welcome to the world of BIAB.
The meter is determined by the style you choose. Good way to start is to use the Stylepicker button (Ctrl F9). On the left side you will see Categories of the styles. Towards the bottom are Waltz and 6/4 categories. Click on that and on the right you will see the different styles. You can sample the style by clicking the style and hit the Load Song Demo button. There is also a search feature (Search Button) that, where entering a song, may find a style matching that song (ex: Moon River). That should get you started.
One other thing is when entering chords in 3/4 time, beats 1 and 2 are in entered in the first cell and beat 3 the second cell. C [enter] G [enter] will play the C on beat 1 and G on beat 3. C,AM [enter] G [enter] will play the C on beat 1, AM on beat 2 and G on beat 3.
Have fun. R

Hi, Eric -
Welcome to the forum! If you want to do 3/4 time, then you need to do one of two things. Either select a Waltz style (you'll see the "W" in style picker to identify it). Alternately, you can also use the F5 key and to indicate that there should only be 3 beats to the measure. What that does is allow you to use a 4/4 style, but cuts off the last beat. It works with some styles and not with others, since the underlying style is still 4/4. So you can experiment with it. I would start by using Waltz styles.
For 6/8 and 12/8 songs, you can use a "swing" based 4/4 style, but you get less resolution for changing chords.
Keep asking questions and folks will try to answer you here.
Good luck and I look forward to hearing what you come up with.

Thanks to both Rachael and John...I will continue to dabble when I can...it will be a huge learning curve and will take time.
Baby steps.
