Hey furry I'll listen when the wife quits on the TV. Dual purpose room eh? You use the Scottish 3/4 style at all? I just threw that at what 'mericans know as the Star Spangled Banner and I as Old Hiram in Heaven and you can find as the Anacrenon Song. I really like it. But then my hearing is about 40 percent gone right now and I can only really handle the speakers on the Tv. For some reason a flat panel Toshiba sounds OK but if I put the same sound through anything else I own I hate it. The Mini is the worst. Sounds like the front speakers are all blown. Oh well, not as bad as it was.

Jim it's a 4/4 style I use here.
Instruments are Piano rehearsal showcase tempo I think's about the 200 point Real drums are Tango believe it or not !!! Midi banjo.
I do my own 2nd accordion
John.
For Scottish 3/4 I would use simply
Pop waltz piano ( b energetic ) set at 85 Country waltz drums ( brushes ) Possibly a pedal steel set in the waltz tempo.
The other piano good for Scottish music is the Rehersal showcase waltz at 140 Pop waltz real drums etc......
Clean 6 / 8 styles need to be catered for ( like a tarantella ) Nothing fancy with dumb little runs & riffs that serve no purpose other than to annoy you, just a cood clean beat, with a nice 6/8 snare drum. Some good rolls in a ' b ' section and again, nothing fancy.

Graham, great music, as always, from my favorite accordionist. You ALWAYS put a smile on my face when I hear your music. I liked those pictures also. Especially the last one that showed you in your “hippie” years
OK, a random thought; Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

Hi Graham,
I thoroughly enjoyed the marches. They too me back to the days when I used to do Scottish Highland Dancing! That was a few decades ago now!
All the best, Noel

Hi. Thank you for posting the Scottish marches. I hope that i will eventually go to Scotland, cause i heard that it is a nice place. However, i don't want to be rude, i like more the Irish music. It's different from anything i heard. I would like to know if is there any kind of compilation of, let's say top 20 songs of Scottish or Irish music, cause i would definitively love to listen to them.

Scottish music varies from district to district. The style & tempo differ completely from say Shetland, to the western islands. Shetland music is faster, and favours a strong Scandinavian influence, Music in the west is slower and favours more Scottish gaelic tunes. You'll find Scottish songs differ from area to area too as do Irish ones.
Do a google for favourite Scottish songs and also tunes and listen on you tube Then do the same for Irish

Thanks for the info as for the tunes.
I'm a complete newbie, trying to figure out how to set up my biab to sound like your band. BTW, I'd also like to have a CDSS style band. And a Playford band. And a New England Contra Dance band.
Here's my confusion: I have a list of styles on disk. You say, "It is a 4/4 style I use here." I do not find that in my list of styles.
And I don't know where the rehearsal showcase piano is, either. Is it on one of the gazillion add on disks from PGM? (Their vast array of buying options, etc. have daunted me.)

To begin with Jim, you need to try out most country & pop styles. Arrange a tune that you want backing for even 16 bars to get you going. If you don't have the new real track styles, try some of the classical styles ( marches etc... ) for Scottish tunes Now, here comes the fun part. Load different styles for the tune and have only one going as a solo. Mute all the rest and see which one comes near to what you're after. Piano, bass, drums 2nd accordion & fidde are the usual line up for a Scottish band. The rehearsal showtunes piano style is on the newer releases of biab and is included in the newest release. I've found that using the tango drums ( speeded up ) in the real drumming syle disks are great for Scottish Marches & reels. Just don't look for anything entitled 4/4, it ain't there. The only thing biab doesn't do yet is good 6/8 styles for us Scottish folk.
